T2202A: Education Credit Tax forms
What is a T2202A Form?
T2202A (Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate) is an official
statement for income tax purposes. It is issued to all students who paid
tuition and fees for qualifying courses that are eligible for claim on the
income tax return. The form shows the amount of tuition that can be
deducted for income tax purposes as well as the number of months eligible
for the education deduction. T2202A are available by the last day of
February for the tuition and eligible fees paid in the preceding calendar
year.
Tax receipts are issued for the calendar year for the dollar value of tuition
for the courses taken between January and December of that year. For
instance, if you made a tuition payment in December 2014 for course that
starts in January 2015, this payment amount would be included in the 2014
T2202A form.
