Team Jack Radiothon 2016
Dear Friends, Nebraska Radio Stations are responsible for helping the Team Jack Foundation raise nearly $2,000,000 for pediatric brain cancer research in the past two years. In the fall of 2012, nearly 18 months before Jack Hoffman scored his ESPY winning touchdown, I reached out to Mike Flood of 94 Rock in Norfolk, Nebraska for help in raising money for pediatric brain cancer research. Mr. Flood and I came up with a plan to sell “Team Jack” t-shirts, with the help, of course, of over a dozen Husker Sports Network Affiliates. Six months later, and “Team Jack” had raised nearly $300,000 for research. The Team Jack Foundation, and its Founders (Jack’s mom and dad) will forever be grateful for getting their start on the Nebraska Air Waves. To this day, we credit Nebraska broadcasters for serving as the core engineers of a Cancer Foundation that is, today, helping fund National Clinical Trials that will have lifesaving ramifications. Pediatric brain cancer is a vicious disease that attacks the center of all function. Speech, mobility, balance, hearing, and all other things that we do on a day-to-day basis, are impacted by a brain tumor. With over 120 different types of brain tumors, and one clinical trial costing nearly $2 million dollars, it is going to take a lot of work to get to the finish line. However, we are convinced that Team Jack will be a part of reaching that finish line, especially with your help. In the past three years, Nebraska stations have helped Team Jack raise over $160,000 on their annual radiothon. This year, we are doubling-down, but we need your help. It is our hope that every Husker Sports Network Affiliate will consider broadcasting the Radiothon in its entirety. By doing so, you will help us make an incredible difference in this fight. Recognizing other broadcast commitments, budget requirements, and advertising needs, we are confident that we have developed an overall Radiothon package that will provide you with several benefits, including but not limited to: Advertising Real Estate to Sell within the Radiothon Free, Hourly Give-aways that your radio listeners will be eligible for Public Service Recognition and securing of public good will for helping fight the leading childhood cancer cause of death Team Jack Foundation Brand Association Social media promotion via Team Jack social media and extended followers It is noteworthy that, for you, the Radiothon would be a turnkey opportunity. The production of the stories, the securing of the listener prizes, the answering of the phones, the taking and tracking of donations–all of this would be provided for you. The Radiothon is scheduled to occur on September 15, 2016 right before the much anticipated opening season game for the Cornhuskers with new coach Mike Riley. We have enormous confidence in your station’s ability to have a favorable experience. Please consider joining us on September 15th, as we storm the Nebraska Air Waves in the fight against pediatric brain cancer. Thank you for your consideration.
