Activity Kit - Princess in Black
and the PERFECT PRINCESS PARTY Event Kit She wears glass slippers. She sleeps in a tower. She rides a unicorn. She is the perfect princess. And for a monster-fighting heroine, that is the perfect disguise. Princess Magnolia is . . . the Princess in Black This is a girl who enjoys wearing frilly pink dresses and glass slippers and having tea parties. And this is also a girl who enjoys wearing black combat boots and galloping on horses and battling huge monsters. She’s a ninja! She makes beasts behave! She’s unstoppable. And in The Princess in Black and the Perfect Princess Party, she’s also the birthday girl. A dozen princess guests in sparkly attire, a series of party games, and some very inconvenient monster alarms make for a birthday Princess Magnolia will never forget. Here are some ideas for hosting your own perfect princess party. Party Decorations Princess Magnolia knows that pink balloons make a princess party perfect. Blow up a bunch of pink balloons or drape pink and black paper streamers to create a festive party atmosphere in your home, store, or library. Princess Name Tags Give labels to all your guests and ask them to write down their names with markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Provide art supplies like glitter and gems so everyone can dress up their name tags with a little bit of sparkle. Make Your Own Tiara Make enough copies of the enclosed template for everyone. Ask your guests to decorate their tiaras with markers, crayons, colored pencils, and other art supplies. Once the tiaras are looking festive and fancy, provide additional paper or oak-tag strips to complete the tiara headband, then tape the ends of the headband together so they form a loop that fits around the head. Glitter-Stone Ring Princess Magnolia wears a glitter-stone ring, which is secretly a monster alarm. Brring! Brring! Whenever the monster alarm goes off, she has to sneak away from her party guests to keep the goats from being eaten. Supply enough Ring Pops so that each princess party guest can have a glitter-stone ring. You never know when the next monster attack will come! Superhero Identities Princess Magnolia may seem like a prim and perfect princess, but she’s secretly the Princess in Black. And fighting monsters is the perfect job for the Princess in Black. As a group, create your own superhero identities. What would your superhero name be? What would your superhero power be? What would your disguise look like? Do you have a nemesis? A faithful sidekick? After discussing, have your guests draw their superhero selves on the enclosed page. Princess Battle Moves When the Princess in Black wages battle against the monsters, she has a few favorite go-to moves: Sparkle Slam! Tiara Trip! Twinkle Twinkle Little SMASH! As a group, talk about some new battle moves for the Princess in Black to try.
