Soybean farmer Til Huset had a vision in 1954 – to build
a 3/8-Mile racetrack in the fertile ground just outside
Brandon. Over the past 62 years, the track has become
one of the more famous short tracks in the country and has
played host to thousands of race fans every week.
But for the many improvements the track has seen since it was carved out of the ground in 1954,
nothing is going to compare to the facelift the facility is getting for the start of the 2016 season. Badlands
Entertainment Group founder and CEO Chuck Brennan purchased the track last year and has committed
$6,000,000 in improvements over the next three years.
Improvements have been in full swing since the end of the 2015 season and the renovation will enhance the
fan experience greatly. Updated grandstands, new Musco lighting for the parking lot and racing surface,
two new high-definition video boards, updated food &
beverage, new plumbing, electrical infrastructure and a
new VIP tower in Turn 4 will all greet fans when the racing
season opens in the spring.
Badlands Motor Speedway will have an unprecedented
amount of national events in 2016. The track will play host
to Saturday AND Sunday night racing, featuring some
of the top sprint car drivers in the country. Including a number of special events, there will be 42 events
scheduled at the venue in 2016.
Between national acts for music concerts, specialty monster truck shows and tractor pulls, the country’s
top motocross event, major sprint car special shows and the speedway’s weekly events, we are anticipating
more than 250,000 fans to pass through the gates in 2016. That’s an increase of 400% over any previous
year at the track!
The population for the Sioux Falls metro area is now over 200,000, but we’re anticipating fans to travel from
miles around.
Nationally, race fans spend over $2 Billion annually on the sport. The fan base is extremely loyal as a
recent national study showed that 57% of race fans had a higher trust in products offered by racing
sponsors. The study also showed that 71% of fans say they “Almost always” or “Frequently” choose
a product sponsored in racing than those that are not. Information based on recent NASCAR study.
The diversity of the events are unprecedented as Badlands Motor Speedway will host concert fans, race
fans, monster truck fans, tractor pull fans and motocross fans. In 2016, this 62 year old facility will see more
first time visitors to the track than ever before.

Sprint car racing is celebrated around the country, and in August
of 2016, Badlands Motor Speedway is hosting one of its biggest
races. The first annual $250,000 Rock N Roll Gold Cup will bring
some of the top 410-sprint car drivers from around the country to
race for the big payouts.
This is a unique event in that the Gold Cup will challenge sprint car
drivers in both disciplines of the sport – winged and non-winged.
The event will feature two nights of qualifying on August 19-20
with the championship scheduled for Sunday, August 21. The
winner of each feature event receives $50,000, and if someone
has an incredible weekend and wins them both, an extra $25,000
bonus is included for a hefty $125,000 paycheck.
The middle of August is a popular time for sprint car racing in this part of the country, and many drivers, from California to
Pennsylvania, will have the Gold Cup circled on their calendar. It’s going to be an amazing event with some of the top drivers
gunning for a Gold Cup sweep!

fund at the end of the season. Drivers may not win each week, but if they

refusal on these seats for years to come. You also receive 1 VIP Parking Pass if you buy a 4 pack of these
seats!
