and the party after the former’s visit to
the epicentre of the land acquisition stir to
support agitating farmers in Greater Noida,
Uttar Pradesh.
At a press conference, Mayawati also
slammed Congress President, Sonia
Gandhi, saying farmers in Rae Bareli should
be compensated for their land that was
acquired for the rail coach factory.
She accused the Congress and other
opposition parties of attempting to disturb
law and order by spreading rumours
on land acquisition and dubbed Rahul
Gandhi’s dharna in Greater Noida as
“mean theatrics”.
Pakistan due to get
$300 mln in U.S. security
reimbursement
Pakistan
is likely to
get
$300
million from
the
United
States
for
costs incurred
in
fighting
militants, officials said on Thursday, at a
time U.S. legislators have been questioning
aid to Pakistan after Osama bin Laden was
found there.
The funds are part of a Coalition
Support Fund (CSF), a U.S. programme
to reimburse countries that have incurred
costs supporting counter-terrorism and
counter-insurgency
operations.
The
United States has reimbursed Pakistan $7.4
billion under the CSF programme since
2001, when Pakistan joined the U.S.-led
campaign against militancy. Funds that
come in through the CSF are not officially
designated as U.S. foreign aid.

Finally Take Honeymoon
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince
William and Kate Middleton have left for a
two-week honeymoon to a secret hideaway
in the Indian Ocean. According to the Daily
Mail the newlyweds will stay in an exclusive
villa that costs €4,600-a-night and is said to be
located on
one of the
most beautiful
and
romantic islands in the
world.
William’s
car was apparently
seen leaving
Anglesey, north Wales, yesterday accompanied
by a police Range Rover piled high with luggage. A spokesman for St James’s Palace said he
would not confirm their honeymoon destination,
although according to reports, the couple may
have headed for the Seychelles.
The country is made up of more than
100 palm-fringed islands and they are believed to have flown out by a private jet
yesterday before being taken by helicopter from
the mainland to the tropical retreat.
The couple have asked that their privacy be
respected during their honeymoon.Two Scotland Yard protection officers checked the destination three weeks ago to ensure it would give
the couple the privacy they crave.

Valentine’s
Day this year. Their common pals are yet to
come to terms with the split. Common friends of
the couple say that John and Bipasha who were
earlier planning to celebrate Valentine’s day
at a five star location in Bandra had to change
the venue at the last minute.John and Bips then
went to a restaurant in Central Mumbai.
John Abraham and Bipasha Basu broke up
after 9 years of togetherness. One of their close
friends says, “Everything was good between
them. And it came as a rude shock to us that
within a few days after Feb 14, they decided to
go their separate ways. It is confusing even for
us.”
The friend continues, “John and Bipasha are
maintaining the same equation with all of us in
their friends circle. It shows that both of them
are mature people. We honestly hope that they
get back together.”

LADY GAGA SPARKS
FAN FRENZY AT CANNES
PERFORMANCE
The Festival de Cannes went Gaga on opening
night with a performance by Lady Gaga. Fans
from across the globe flocked to the front of
the Hotel Martinez, where she performed on
Canal+’s hit show Le Grand Journal’s live stage.
Gaga sang her new song “Judas” and then took
to the stage for an interview with host Michel
Denisot.
“It’s beautiful, it’s very, very busy, but it’s
really nice to be here,” Gaga said, adding; “It was
so lovely performing near the ocean. I would’ve
liked to have jumped in after the performance!”
She sported a typical outlandish outfit trailed
by a long red fabric plus a gold-embroidered
black costume. Catholic groups are shouting
blasphemy over her hit “Judas”. When asked
whether she believes in God, Gaga responded:
“Of course. I have so much faith. I used the
name Judas as a metaphor.”
When presenter Ali Baddou asked her how
she manages not to go crazy with all of her
success, she said: “I was already crazy!” “I have
to be honest. I am just so grateful that I get to
make music every day and perform every night.
The thing that I didn’t know would happen is
this extraordinary relationship I have with my
fans.”
Her album Born This Way is set to be released
May 23.

A GOLD STAR FOR THIS
SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION
To kickstart its silver jubilee func-
tion with a bang, the HPY organising
committee
brainstormed
ceaselessly as they
wanted
to
do
things
differently
to mark a
change in the
way things
are
usually
done.
This is because H.P.Y. Organizing Committee led by the Coordinator
Ms. Azmin Mistry, believes and lives
by what Foster once said, “Quality is
never an accident, it is always the
result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligence, direction and skillful execution; It represents the wise
choice of many alternatives.” An
event
of this stature needed a
very committed set of
workers, both behind
the scenes as well as
in the forefront. The
committee didn’t
take long to pin
down the very
best in our community - Mr.
Hormuzd
Khambata.
The
moment they
thought “differently,”
two
things came to
their minds “Broadway”
and “Hormuzd
Khambata.”
Since it
was an HPY Programme, the committee decided that all the performers
must
be
alumni
of the programme and
so
started
gathering all
those who
had excelled
in singing or
dancing in
their respective
years
at
H.P.Y.
The organisers did not
want to restrict performances only
to the alumni and so also extended
its invite to its resource people – Sensei Cawas Billimoria and Ms. Delna
The committee didn’t take
long to pin down the very best
in our community Mr. Hormuzd Khambata.
The moment they thought
“differently,” two things came
to their minds - “Broadway” and
“Hormuzd Khambata.”
Mody. Ms. Delna Mody is a trained
vocalist from Canada and has also
performed in the Sound of Music
production. After excessive auditions and scrutinizing details to suit
the genre, the performers were shortlisted and rehearsals were set into
motion.
All the performers rigorously
rehearsed for over a month at the
Khareghat Colony Hall, to make
sure that the show was a huge success. The Organizing Committee left
no stone unturned to make sure that
the performers were comfortable in
every way possible. Hormuzd was
present for every rehearsal himself.
He, along with his very efficient
and forthcoming assistants Sherzad,
Zeenia and Pashyn promised to put
up a fantastic show.

Fund continues to
create living quarteres and growth
opportunities.
On 5th April
2011,
a
jashan
ceremony
was
conducted at the
newly constructed
WZO Trust Funds
Bai Maneckbai P.B.
Jeejeeboy Building
at Navsari which is
the eighth building
constructed by the
fund in Navsari on
old ancestral properties. The building was constructed
on the ancestral property of the Aspar family which was donated to the
WZO Trust fund by the family of
Zenobia and Kersi Aspar, presently
residing in Tokyo, Japan. The fund-
ing for construction of the building
was donated by the
trustees of Bai Maneckbai P.B. Jeejeeboy Deed of Settlement Fund. They
have also contributed towards the
construction of 6 of
the 8 buildings, the
other two having
been constructed
from donations received from trustees of Behramji
Nowroji Gamadia
Parsi Hunnar Shalla Trust of Zoroastrian Charity Funds
of Hong Kong, Canton and Macao.
All the eight buildings have very
comfortable flats given to Zoroastrians on leave and license.

On the proud and joyous occasion of the completion of 1290 years
of the Parsi Atash Behram –Iranshah burning in Udvada, Mr. Marzban
Dara Mehta composed a song for the celebration! Mrs. Yasmin Charna
conducted the beautiful voices of the girls of Petit Girls School, Bandra,
and the audience clapped heartily along with CM of Gujarat Mr. Narendra
Modi.
Mr. Modi expressed his joy for the music and particularly the clever
wordings of Mr. Mehta by sending him a letter of congratulation.

are, there is no doubt that any sort of effort to
put people together and get them motivated

FOZYA FACT-O-FILE
In the last one century, many
Zoroastrian youth bodies were
formed in different cities and
small towns of India. But due to
distances and cultural backgrounds
and differences between metro and
smaller towns, most of these youth
bodies found it difficult to interact
with each other. A brainchild of
Mr.Porus Karanjawalla, THE FEDERATION OF
ZOROASTRIAN YOUTH ASSOCIATIONS (or
FOZYA) was conceived at the first All India Youth
Seminar in New Delhi (1987) and finally formed in
1991 with at The Nagpur Youth Seminar with Mr.
Jehangir Bisney as its founder president.
FOZYA has organised intercity youth meets
between two or three youth bodies across India.
These meets are usually held jointly with youth
bodies at a convenient location in India. FOZYA has
always placed the interests of the Zoroastrian youth
first and foremost and is committed to the interaction
and assimilation of all Zoroastrian youth bodies in
India. It is also committed to the advancement of the
Zoroastrian faith and knowledge amongst the youth,
while maintaining a policy of flavour which respects
the diverse traditions and practices of Parsi and Irani
Zoroastrians in India.
Over these 20 years, FOZYA has
built an outstanding reputation,
which is recognised and respected
by all Panchayats and Anjumans
across India. None of this would
have been possible without the
trust and confidence of members,
donors, supporters and last but not
the least delegates and friends.
FOZYA is open for membership to only Parsi/
Irani Associations all over India. Those cities which
do not have enough youth population to form a youth
association can become a member as a youth body/
organisation of their respective anjumans.
FOZYA has organised and hosted a series of youth
seminars and meets which assessed the needs of the
Zoroastrian youth in India. They have also had many
charitable drives which included distribution of grains,
sadras and kustis to the under-privileged members of
the community. In total 19 youth meets have been
held in the last 19 years of its establishment. This year,
FOZYA will celebrate its 20th year at a very special
event.

All too often modern design and trendy looks overshadow the desired end
result of an effective advertisement. While I am a lover of quality graphic
design it is important not to lose sight of the objective of the advertisement,
which will generally be to sell something. Whenever you are planning a
newspaper advertisement I suggest getting your designer or newspaper
to give you a copy of the advertisement so you can put it on a page in a

COMMUNITY - THE BROADWAY
AT H.P.Y.
1st May was the big day. The performers performed on songs from the
musicals such as The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Abba,
Queen and also those sung by the one
and only King of Pop - Elvis Presley.
The Broadway performances were
exhilarating and left the audiences
spellbound, wishing for more. The
dances were upbeat and full of energy and the singing kept everybody
tapping their feet, swaying in adulation and hooting with appreciation.
All in all the broadway show was a
huge success and distracted the audiences from the usual and typical
Bollywood dancing and singing.
After a huge success on 17th
November, when H.P.Y. felicitated

its resource persons who’ve been
contributing towards the programme
for several years, the Organizing
Committee could have rested and
considered that, the greatest feather
in their cap.
But, never has an organization
lived upto its motto (“Striving for
Excellence”) as much as H.P.Y. has
and continues to do. It is the one programme that takes care of the smallest and the most infinitesimal details.
Only then can the product be so tight,
crisp and almost perfect. Each of their
events are better than their previous
ones and this is the epitome to which
the motto ‘striving for excellence’ can
be lived.
With an Organization of young
and dynamic members such as these,
who forever strive to only get better
than their previous shows, with the
love from one and all in the community, with the zealous enthusiasm of
its alumni and resource persons, and
the hand of God behind it, we wish
this Organization completes its Golden Jubilee after another 25 years, bigger and better, than its Silver Jubilee
this year.

Hold onto your winners and sell your
losers.
Booking your losses is as important
as booking your profits. If you wouldn’t
buy more of a stock today on which
you have a loss and know that there
is no future in that company, then sell
it. Don’t wait to “get even.” Chances
are there are better ways to invest
your money. No well-managed store
keeps obsolete goods in inventory;
neither should you keep losers in your
investment portfolio. It’s not whether
you’re right or wrong that’s important,
but how much money you make when
you’re right and how much you lose
when you’re wrong .
Where you invest is as important as
how you invest.
Do not time the market, you can
never buy a stock at the rock bottom
price and sell it at its peak, you
may be lucky but not always. Stick
with a strategy. Avoid lump sum
investments, stagger your investments
across different periods, it will help
you average out the purchase price.
Do always sit on some cash and don’t
run dry by investing as if there is no
tomorrow, you never know when
opportunity strikes on your door.
Investing into stocks is not gambling
as long as your investment is not based
on speculation. Stock represents the
ownership of a company. Investing
into stocks is investing in a business
opportunity which you should be able
to foresee and understand.

mix of conventional Parsi cuisine and
innovative new age food mantras.
The restaurant has been delighting
not only Parsis but all Mumbaikars
since 1970. Initially called the Café
India, it was rechristened Jimmy Boy
in 1990. It’s a little heavy on the pocket but after a single bite of the lagan
nu custard, you know it’s definitely
worth it.
RECIPE
Fish Patiya
Ingredients:
8slices fish / 2 cups deveined prawns,
Turmeric powder & salt,
1tablespoon coriander seeds,
½ tablespoon cumin seeds,
A pinch of mustard seeds,
8cloves garlic,
1tablespoon chopped coriander,
2large finely chopped onions,
5cloves,
5cardamoms,
5peppercorns, 1inch cinnamon,
1large tomato, ¼ cup vinegar,
8red chilies, ¼ cup oil.
Directions:
1. Apply salt and turmeric over the
fish. Grind all the ingredients,
except fish, onions, coriander and
oil into a smooth paste.
2. Heat the oil in a large vessel. Add
the onions. Fry till almost brown.
Add the masala. Fry for 5-10
minutes, stirring continuously.
3. Add the fish. Shake the covered
vessel and simmer for 10-12
minutes. Serve hot with yellow
rice.
