Twenty-one years of Book Discussion Group!
Our discussion group has been meeting for 21 years and we have enjoyed sharing hundreds of titles. To see a list of all the
books we have read, check our web site. Our group is open to the public and we always have copies of the chosen title
available to borrow at the circulation desk. Each May, at our last discussion before we break for summer, we all bring
favorite titles to our meeting. We set up on the big table at the back of the library and vote on the next reading list.
Discussion Group Reading List 2015-16 - Meeting at 1:30 in the Library
Longbourn - Jo Baker
David and Goliath – Malcolm Gladwell
Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher– Timothy Egan
Far from the Madding Crowd – Thomas Hardy
The Long Exile – Melanie McGrath
Under the wide and starry sky– Nancy Horan
April 27 - All the light we cannot see - Anthony Doerr
May 25 - Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins
On this last date in May, before our summer break, we meet
early at 1:00 to share titles and vote on our next reading
list. Please feel free to join our group! Hope to see you there.

Summer Story Time: Fridays at 10:30
For school age children, this program begins in mid-June
and runs through mid-August. We meet in the Township
Hall next to the library. Mary offers stories, crafts and a
snack. We often have a special children’s program or a
guest storyteller during the summer. Hope to see you there!
Wings of Wonder Event 2015
Our weekly Wigglers Story Time meets year round on Thursdays at 10:30 in the Children’s Corner. Mary Crowgey incorporates stories, music, felt board activities, crafts and a snack
at every session. Her child friendly approach is welcoming
and interactive and helps children cultivate a natural interest in
reading and books. The craft time is always a favorite with the
Wigglers and they leave every program with a treasure of their
own making. Children often linger at the craft table long after
the story time is over. Parents also take advantage of the Wigglers’ gatherings, making connections with each other, catching up with friends and sharing information or just browsing
the shelves for some books, movies, or best sellers.
Wigglers Thursdays at 10:30 in the Children’s Corner.

Library Funding:
A majority of our library funding comes
from Leelanau Township Property Taxes, allocated by the Leelanau Township
Board, who also serve as the library
board. As long as we budget and spend
3/10ths of a mil in local property tax
dollars, we are eligible to receive State
Aid.
Distributed by the Library of
Michigan, state aid delivers a small per
capita payment each year. We also receive a portion of county penal fines,
excluding court costs, again distributed
on a per capita basis. Penal fine totals
vary each year in accordance with the
number of traffic tickets & fines issued
in our Township. The Friends of the
Library donations, individual donations,
grants, video fees, material replacement
fines, and printing fees make up the remaining income. Our library does not
collect a separate millage or receive Federal funding other than grants.
