July 2015 Strasbourg Bible Camp’s Newsletter From the Directors Desk It has been awhile since we have sent out a newsletter, and a lot has happened. I am excited to say that I feel as though there has been a renewed vision for the camp! I personally have seen so many people express interest in what is happening here, and I have felt a renewed passion for the work happening here at camp. As a board, we have also had a renewed desire to see SBC offer free camps for everyone who attends (which was part of the original mission of the camp). So I felt that it was time for a renewed look to our newsletter. Some of you may have been receiving our newsletter for a long time, but we have decided to change it a bit, and offer a fresh look to reflect the things we are feeling here. It is so exciting to see people joining in the work that is happening here, and I know that God is going to bring something good! Many of you are aware that we had to replace our vent hood and fire suppression system in the kitchen this last year, which at the beginning seemed like an impossible task financially. But the Lord is good, and we raised $32,000 to complete this project (which was more than our original quote). The work is now done, however, due to unforeseen circumstances and issues we ended up having bills equaling over $42,000 so we are still in need of support for that! That being said, I am not worried, I know that God has SBC in His hands, and that He is looking out for us. Will you join with us in prayer as we wait for God’s provision? God’s word says in Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus”. God has proven this over and over in the last year at camp, and we are trusting Him that He will continue to provide for us in ways that we can’t even imagine yet. I just want to thank you for praying for us and supporting the camp, we don’t say it enough but we couldn’t do any of this without you! “I like working at camp because it’s a very positive atmosphere to spend my summer in, and it’s uplifting to be surrounded by staff who share my beliefs. It’s also a really fulfilling way to serve the Lord” Christina Lytle, Junior Staff Coordinator In Christ, Dan Cronan Executive Director In This Issue Photo Credit: Dan Cronan From the Directors Desk 100x50 Upcoming Dates Campers Corner 100x50 We are very excited to be rolling out our new fundraising campaign that we have called “100x50; Building a Firm Foundation”. SBC has always run on donations, but in the last few years we have seen the donations dwindle, which has created a financial strain for the camp. We currently run at a deficit every month, which puts stress on everything that we do here at camp! We whole heartedly believe in the ministry of Strasbourg Bible Camp, and we know we are not alone. We have seen God work miracles here, even in the last year, and we know that He has not forgotten us. However, there are bills to pay, and so we are asking you, our supporters and encouragers, to prayerfully consider donating $50/month by pre-authorized debit. We believe that God is going to do great things through this fundraiser, and we are so excited to see Him work! This fundraiser will enable us to have a firm foundation, and to know that our monthly bills will be paid, which will free up money from our rentals to upgrade the buildings, invest in the programs and do many other much needed tasks! How can you get involved? Join with us in finances and/or prayer, or come volunteer time at camp. Fill out the response card for the 100x50 Campaign and send it back to us! Phone us at 1-306-725-4581 or email us at [email protected] and ask for more information. In Advance... We want to take this time to thank you in advance for the support that you show the camp! It takes a lot of faithful followers to help a camp like this run, we know that God has built a strong community around this camp, and we thank you for your support! Upcoming Events... But, we were encouraged by others around us who reminded us that God is in control! The flood got fixed, the campers came back and people were touched by God. That is the reason why we are here afterall! Overall, this year has had low enrollment, and at first we were feeling discouraged, but then we realized that we have a really exciting opportunity this year to really get to know the campers who walk through the doors! When we have really big camps, it is harder to get to know each of the people who walk through the door, and so this year we are focusing on ministering to each person who comes here as best as we can. Teen Camp is finished now, and it was an exciting week! We had a number of new faces, and many returning teens. Many from this week have stayed on as our staff for the other weeks, so please pray for them as they continue to help us in our ministry here. Childrens Camp will be finished on Friday July 10, as we write this newsletter, there have already been 3 girls who have accepted the Lord for the first time, what a blessing to be a part of that! Please pray for them as they start this new journey, and that they would find churches to connect with when they go home. There may be lower numbers for this week, but they are so full of energy, that it feels a lot more full than it is! Junior Camp and Inner City Camps are still coming up, we are so excited about these camps, and we are looking forward to seeing how God works in the hearts of the kids who come. Campers Corner!! This is a new section of the Newsletter that is just for you, our campers! You are the reason we are here, and we want to keep in touch with you over the year! This area might be different each time we send out a newsletter, but it is meant to encourage you, and keep you thinking about camp over the year! Read your bible everyday, and stay Rooted in God’s word! Colossians 2:6,7 We talked a lot about being Rooted in God’s word this summer, cut out the book mark on this page to help you make the most of your time reading the Bible.
