Turn LEFT onto 756 at the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, and proceed to the right lane. At the second traffic light (Denny’s) turn RIGHT onto Theatre Drive. (left hand lane of the two travel lanes.) Travel 7/10 of a mile and turn LEFT at the 3rd light onto Schoolhouse Road. (left hand lane.) Travel approximately 5/10 of a mile and at the 2nd University of Pittsburgh sign, turn RIGHT onto Picking Drive. You will see the PPAC in front and a little to the right of you. From Eastern and Southern Points: From I-76/PA Turnpike take EXIT #146, Bedford. At the traffic light after the toll booth, turn LEFT (choose the left lane.) Turn left at the next light and Follow I-99 NORTH (3 miles) to Route 56 WEST (27 miles) to Route 219 NORTH. From 219 take the ELTON / SR 756 exit. At the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto 756 / Elton Road (right lane.) At the next traffic light (Denny’s) turn RIGHT onto Theatre Drive. (left hand lane of the two travel lanes.) Travel 7/10 of a mile and turn LEFT at the 3rd light onto Schoolhouse Road. (left hand lane.) Travel north on Route 219 and take the ELTON / SR 756 exit. At the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto 756 / Elton Road. At the traffic light at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto 756 / Elton Road (right lane.) At the next traffic light (Denny’s) turn RIGHT onto Theatre Drive. Two (2) dedicated analog phone lines are available: 814-269-7242 and 814-269-7246. “9” must first be dialed to reach an outside line. A fax machine and a copier are available for use in the administrative office located on the second floor. 11’ x 23’ (3.35m x 7.01m), seating for 14; located adjacent to the dressing rooms; down one level from the stage. Paid student staff complemented with professional union and non-union personnel. *The house traditionally opens 1/2 hour prior to curtain. *Smoking is prohibited in all University-owned and leased property. *The stage crew is to be released from work only by the Arts Center’s technical director. *There will be a designated flyman for each event. No other personnel, either local or touring, shall use the counterweight system without this individual’s direct knowledge and consent. There is access from the house onto the stage by way of steps located offstage left and right in alcoves downstage of the proscenium. Dressing rooms, green room, and orchestra pit are located under the stage with stairs located both stage left and right. An elevator is also available. Items can be stored in the receiving area or the Studio Theatre, which is located directly upstage. There are four (4) orchestra shell roof units located on line sets 5, 14, 19 and 25 that cannot be removed. Side by Side sound and lighting control booths are located at the rear of the orchestra seating level, 56’4” (17.17m) from the edge of the apron Located at the rear of the balcony, 88’ (26.8m) throw at 21 degrees. 39’2” (11.9m) x 19’5” (5.9m) at center, arcs to 17’(5.2m) at the ends. No lift, although there is elevator access to this level. Height is adjustable by using Midwest Folding Product Platforms/Risers. See Attachment D for diagram. 6 Carpentry: House Draperies (Soft Goods): House Curtain: Burgundy in color, guillotine only, sewn flat with fullness tied in, bottom chain installed, located on the first line-set but it can be relocated or struck if necessary. Manual operation is from the lock rail stage left. House Border: The standard operation is to utilize an out trim on the House Curtain. Legs: 4 pairs, black velour, 15’ wide x 30’ high (4.6m x 9.1m), no fullness, OR 6 pairs are available if a Full Stage Black is not used. There are 336 - 2” (.05m) and 10 - 1” (.03m) weights permanently in use to counterweight the empty battens and the orchestra shell roof units. The stage floor is sprung and assembly above the concrete is as follows: 3/8” (.0095m) thick neoprene pads at 16” (.4064m) on center, attached to the next layer; 1”x3” (.0254m x .0762m) wood sleepers at 16” (.4064m) on center; 1”x3” (.0254m x .0762m) wood sleepers at 16” (.4064m) centers, perpendicular to the layer below; 5/8” (.0159m) tongue and groove plywood; 3/4” (.019m) oak flooring finished with ArmorSeal Tread-Plex Semi-Gloss Tricorn Black Condition: Traps: NOTE: Good None Available No lagging, nailing or screwing into the floor without prior consultation with the PPAC technical director. Control Boards: ETC ION 1000 with 1024 Output, ETC FADW 2x10, ETC FADW 2x20, ETC Radio Focus Remote (for ION), is located in a control booth located at the rear of the orchestra level, DMX 512 protocol. Also available: a Leprechaun LPX-24, ETC Expression 3, 400 channels, with Reflection backup. Control is available through a separate console. Two (2) separate wall plate control stations are also located within the complex. Even though this location is under the balcony, the vast majority of touring companies find it acceptable. Monitor/Paging Systems: Paging is accomplished through channel ‘B’ of the intercom system along with the input of the run of show microphone located in the house. The signal is sent to Clear-Com speaker stations located in each of the 2 chorus dressing rooms, the 2 star dressing rooms, and the green room. An external program input instead of the microphone is possible. Production Communications: With Clear-Com Master Station, Technical Projects Headsets, Clear-Com single channel belt packs, Clear-Com dual channel belt packs, Clear-Com portable speaker stations, hard wired A/B wall plate stations are available at various locations throughout the building.
