The Championship Course, the 9-hole Academy Course, the Learning Center, and the Callaway Golf Performance Center are designed to provide novice and experienced golfers with a world class facility for practice and play. Each of the three par 36 nine-hole courses features five tees with 18-hole layouts ranging from 5,050 yards to 7,108 yards. The environmentally sensitive course design incorporates the existing features of the former farmstead, taking full advantage of the topography, with rolling fairways and large undulating greens. The 9-hole, par 32 Academy Course, an executive style layout, plays from 1,420 yards, 1,712 yards, and 2,019 yards, with three tees per hole. The course presents novice and experienced players with a unique opportunity to improve their game. With five par 4’s and four par 3’s, 19 sand bunkers, and a water hazard that can come into play on three holes, the Academy Course provides a similar experience to regulation play. Golfers are able to use every club in their bag; the longest hole measuring 323 yards and five holes having driving distances exceeding 199 yards. The par 3-holes measure 63 yards to 166 yards, providing a perfect opportunity to work on the short game. The Academy Course is ideal for walking, and is well suited for a quick round. Power golf carts are available. The 12,000 square foot Clubhouse has a fully stocked Pro Shop featuring brand name equipment and golf apparel. The Grille Room provides golfers with sandwiches and snacks to go, and an opportunity to enjoy a cocktail and meal while socializing after a round of golf. The second floor Banquet Room is available for outings, banquets, and community events. It is complemented by an outdoor deck with a 270-degree view of the golf course, the historic Neshanic Valley, and the nearby Sourland Mountains. Neshanic Valley was selected as one of the Top 50 New Golf Courses in the country by Golf Week magazine. It is the only publicly owned facility on the list. Rounding out the facilities are the Neshanic Valley Learning Center and the Callaway Golf Performance Center. The Learning Center is part of the world-class facility that the Somerset County Park Commission offers at Neshanic Valley Golf Course. The Learning Center’s range has a blue grass teeing area that measures 140 yards wide by 40 yards deep. Its short game area is a 65 yard long fairway surrounded by three greens with bunkers and a 12,000 square foot putting green. Unique to the Learning Center is a two hole practice course. NVLC is home to one of only few Callaway Performance Centers in the United States. Next to the Learning Center is a unique nine hole course named The Academy. The Academy is a par 32 that has three different tee boxes on each hole. This Academy nine is challenging for the accomplished player but is also the perfect course on which to learn the game. The Academy Course takes between 1 and 1.5 hours to play. We encourage golfers that use the range to use the practice putting green, but please note that the short game area and practice holes are open only to our Annual Range Members and Daily Pass holders. Golf packages are offered for the Academy Course only. Registered golfers can purchase a card for a package of 10 nine hole rounds for $125 good Monday to Thursday. Please note that the card is the sole responsibility of the consumer and lost or severely damaged cards will not be honored by Somerset County Park Commission. The Learning Center is home to Somerset County Park Commission’s Junior Golf program. Programs for ages 6-17 start in early spring and run until the end of August. Programs are offered to Juniors of all abilities. The Ladies Academy is a program strictly for lady golfers. The group lessons are on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings from 10-11 am. The classes will cover different aspects of the swing, short game, rules & etiquette, and playing the game. Ladies are encouraged to participate in the class and then play the Academy Course afterwards, however green fees are not included in the program. Classes are $15 per person, which does includes range balls. Adult Education programs are offered spring, summer and fall. The classes are 90 minutes long and cover many aspects of the game. Golf School at the Learning Center will be offered in three formats. One day swing school, one day short game school, and two day swing school. Prices and dates will vary. The Learning Center offers clinics for corporate and other groups. This is a great way to have a team building event or treat some important clients to a first class golf experience. Use the indoor facility at the Learning Center to make a presentation and then turn the day over to the professional staff. The professional staff will make a short indoor presentation and then the action will move out onto the practice facility for some group instruction. Outdoor golf instruction will last one hour and then you and your colleagues can head back to the office or stay and practice. Golf on the Academy or Championship Course may be added. Clinic rates vary on size of group and duration of clinic. Individual private lessons are the greatest form of instruction. They allow the instructor to evaluate and personalize instruction to the student’s abilities. Lessons are $50 per half hour or a package of five half hours can be purchased for $215. the learning center programs • Annual Range Membership • Ladies Academy • Daily Range Pass • Golf Schools • Range Balls By The Bucket • Group/Corporate Clinics • Rounds of golf package • Individual Private Golf Lessons • Junior Golf Program • Custom Club Fitting • Adult Education • Professional Club Repair annual range membership Includes unlimited range balls, unlimited use of the short game area, unlimited putting, and unlimited use of practice holes. Golfers must use a push-button phone with a touch-tone signal. Telephone must be set on tone. Dial the Tee Time Reservation Service at 908 231-1122 and respond to the verbal prompts by firmly depressing the number pad. Once a prompt has begun, you may respond. After an introductory message you may be asked: If you are a registered golfer, press one; or, if you are a nonregistered golfer, press two. If you press one, you will then be asked to please enter your registered golfer number (this is the number that appears on your Golfer ID Card). The system will then ask you to confirm this information and will tell you how many days access you have. Non-registered golfers who press two will be asked to enter their 10 digit home telephone number to proceed, and after confirmation will be told you have 1-day access to our facility. You will then be offered a choice of prompts; to make a reservation, you will press one. Next you will be asked to enter the date you wish to play. For ex- ample, for April 9, 2008, enter 04 for the month; 09 for the day; and 08 for the year. The system will ask you to confirm the date. You will be asked to enter your first choice: Green Knoll Quail Brook Spooky Brook Warrenbrook Neshanic Valley Championship Neshanic Valley Academy Next you will enter the four digits for the preferred hour and minute you wish to play. For example, for 9:30 am, enter 0930. Enter the number of golfers in your party: 1, 2, 3, or 4. The system will then offer you the first tee time available before and after your selected time. If all tee times have been reserved before your selected time, you will only be offered a later time. After selecting a time, you will be given a booking confirmation number, and the system will then repeat the details of your reservation as to group size, date, time and course. At this point you may select nine to exit the system, or eight to go back to main menu to make another reservation, review, cancel, or change a reservation, or receive facility information. When Can I Make a Reservation? Automated reservations are accepted starting at 9 pm, seven days in advance, for tee times set aside for registered county residents, and 9 pm, five days in advance, for tee times set aside for nonresidents (e.g., residents may reserve a tee time for the upcoming Sunday beginning at 9 pm the preceding Saturday; non-residents, at 9 pm the preceding Monday). All unreserved times become available to everyone 24 hours preceding the day of play (e.g., unreserved tee times for Saturday become available Thursday at 9 pm). Reservations, modifications, and cancellations can be made through the Reservation Service at 908 231-1122 until 8:30 pm preceding the day of play. At that time, unreserved tee times become additional walk-on times. How do I Confirm, Modify, or Cancel a Reservation? If you wish to confirm, modify or cancel your Tee Time Reservation, you must do so before 8:30 pm the preceding evening by calling 908 231-1122 and following the verbal prompts: to make a reservation, press 1; to review your reservation, press 2, to cancel your reservation, press 3; to change your reservation, press 4; to get facility information, press 5; for information on joining the Tee Time Reservation Service, press 6. If you are trying to cancel or modify a reservation and are certain that the Service is not working, call 908 722-1200, ext. 248, before 8:30 pm, and leave a message. The service shuts down every evening between 8:30 pm and 9 pm. Cancellations Cancellations or a reduction in group size can be made by calling the Tee Time Service Cancellation Line at 908 429-9400 until 11:59 pm the preceding evening. No Show Policy Golfers (subscribers) who have a reserved time through the automated Tee Time Reservation Service must honor the time, modify it or cancel it in advance by 8:30 pm the preceding evening. Golfers may also cancel reservation or reduce group size by calling the Cancellation Telephone Line, 908 429-9400, until 11:59 pm the preceding evening. Failure to do so will result in a “No Show” classification. A “No Show” is defined as: • Anyone who makes a reservation and fails to appear for the tee time. • Anyone who fails to modify a reservation (including the number of players in a group). • Anyone who fails to cancel a reserved tee time. The first “No Show” will result in a Warning. A second “No Show” will result in a 14-day suspension from the Reservation Service, beginning the day of the “No Show”. Payment of the subscriber’s outstanding greens fee must be made in person at the golf shop of the course where the reservation had been made prior to reinstatement. A third “No Show” will result in a 28-day suspension from the Reservation Service and payment of the green fees for the missed tee time. A fourth “No Show” will result in the subscriber’s membership being deactivated in the Reservation service for the remainder of the calendar year. How Can I Get More Information? You may receive more information about the Somerset County Park Commission Golf Courses by calling the Reservation Service at 908 231-1122 and pressing 5, or by calling 908 722-1200, ext. 248. Additional Considerations Listen closely to the verbal prompts. Do not rush through the reservation procedure, although you may begin responding before the prompt is completed. The verbal prompts will be repeated several times if you do not respond or if you enter a number the service cannot process. To cancel or modify your reservation, call the Reservation Service. This courtesy will allow another golfer to reserve that tee time, and avoid a possible “No Show” classification. The golfer who made the reservation must be present when the golf party checks in at the golf course 30 minutes before the scheduled tee time. Availability of tee time reservations may be limited by special events, inclement weather, course hours, or any additional reasons deemed necessary by golf management.
