grade Computer Teacher, ASE
September 30, 2011
Volume 1, Issue 1
As a Robotics club, we
recently began designing parts that are going
to be used in a Robotics competition. Students are also building
parts for this year’s
mission which is titled
"Food Factor". After
finishing with the
building part, they are
going to prepare a
Power Point presentation based on the
topic. After the design
effort we are then going to start the equally
important programming effort.

Word from the Health Office
Winter is getting closer
which means that you will
be staying indoors a little
more than usual, and this is
how germs spread. Please,
remember to take these
precautions to have a safe
and healthy winter.
1. Cover you mouth with
your arm, not with your
hands, when you sneeze or
cough. Germs spread very
easily when you cough or
sneeze in your hands and
then touch someone or
something.

2. Please get your flu shot
or flu mist. Please contact
your health provider to
discuss which option is best
for you.

Geography Bee Club needs you!
By Nathaniel Martinez: 5th grade student, ASE
If you are good at geography this
might be your chance to become
a geography bee champion. If
you’re bad at geography this is
your chance to get better. But
hurry up and sign in, because we
need more people to keep running the Geography bee club.
This can be a once in a lifetime
opportunity. Moreover, you can
represent our school and New
Mexico. Geography bee is like
spelling bee. A person will ask a question and you will
have to answer the
question on a paper
and yes, this goes
worldwide. More
important, we will
have a lot of fun
learning geography
while we share

“We’re going down!” the pilot
alerted the crew. The ship that
they were in was malfunctioning and they were going to hit
the planet in front of them.
They entered into the atmosphere; they were closing in on
the ground and were about to
crash. “Pull up, pull up!” the
captain ordered. “I can’t! It’s
stuck!” their pilot said. They
crashed nose first. After a while,

By Me-Oh-My, anonymous, ASE
Dear Me-Oh-My,
you think?
I am a 5th grade student at Albuquerque School of Excellence. In
our Media Literacy Club, we are
putting together a school newsletter. Do you think we should
talk about stuff that's happening
in our school? Should we talk
about problems in the school
and how to change them? Is it
important for us to put together
a school newsletter? What do

Dear 5th grade student,
The school news letter represents

At the end of this month, on
Friday, September 30th, the 7th
grade classes will be launching
hot air balloons ; not any hot air
balloons, but balloons made out
of tissue paper! The whole
school will be able to watch this
sight as it happens. This launch

ented, but you (being the writer)
can add your own personal twist
to it. So, if you have concerns or
questions about the school that
you want addressed, then that is
what the segment, “Dear Me-OhMy” is about. You simply write
your questions or concern about
the school, homework, tests, or…
basically anything that could be a
question or concern to you and
it will remain

of the school. You will see different groups' balloon's float into
the sky. The balloons will go very
far, until they are out of sight.
They will float as high as they
can go. If the 7th graders for
some reason can't get the balloons finished in time or the
weather is not good for flying,
then the balloon launch will be
held another day. However, the
launch will happen one way or
another. (continued on next page)

I got into this club because I
love, literally love writing and
reading. I especially love reading.
What we’re doing is watching
videos about advertisements and
famous advertisements so we understand why we advertise. First,
we’re probably going to apply
advertisements to see how it

works and then plan an advertisement. Once we have
all agreed, we will evaluate
one and just keep having fun
with advertisements. Also,
we’re doing a school newsletter. It’s really fun! P.S. If
you read this and liked it
and see me in the hallway,
give me an E-five!
