Summer reading game for children preschool through entering 5th grade Grab your suntan lotion and visit our wacky water park. Pick up a map of the park when you register starting 6/14, and start reading as soon as school ends. Hang your beach ball in our display when you start the game. Receive prizes when you read (or are read to) at least 120 minutes/week. First turn-in day for prizes is 6/28. Last turn-in day is 8/13. Take Me Out to the Ballgame! For children finishing grades K-12 June 28 to July 31 Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP and the Rochester Red Wings have teamed up to sponsor a countywide reading program. Fill out an entry form for each book you read for a chance to win some great prizes. The Bubble Man Tuesday, June 29 7:00pm, Fisher Meeting Room Doug Rougeux’s juggling and bubbling show mixes comedy juggling with astounding gigantic bubbles. Family fun for all ages. No registration required. DROP-IN PRESCHOOL STORY TIMES Newbery Tests Wednesdays, 3:00—5:00pm June 30—August 25, Storytale Room If you participate in your school’s Newbery Club, you can read and get credit for Newbery books throughout the summer. Oral tests can be taken on Newbery-winning books (but not Newbery Honor books), with successful tests reported to your school librarian in the fall. By appointment only. Children’s Book Swap Wednesday, July 7 2:00—3:00pm, Fisher Meeting Room Trade in your gently-used children’s books for some great new reads. Drop in—For all ages. Family Bingo Tuesday, July 13 7:00—8:00pm, Fisher Meeting Room How about some old-fashioned fun? Round up your family and friends for an evening of bingo. Snacks provided. For all ages. Take a Tromp Through the Swamp...And a Break by the Lake with Tom Sieling Friday, August 13 2:00pm, Fisher Meeting Room If you complete all six weeks of the summer reading program, you’ll receive a family ticket to this fun, very participatory children’s music program. Tom accompanies himself on guitar, banjo, harmonica, and a drum machine, and all songs engage the whole family.
