The three teachers selected for the 2014 Teachers of the Year were Nora Waldow– 2nd Grade Teacher-Johnson Elementary School; Teresa Brown– 7th Grade Math & Science Teacher– Columbine Middle School; and Dr. Mark Bollinger– Science Teacher– Montrose High School The Montrose Education Foundation’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes licensed classroom teachers for the significant contributions they make to their school, community, and school district. Nominees are individuals who: Inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn; Have the respect and admiration of students, parents, community, and colleagues; Plan an active and useful role in the community as well as in their school; and Demonstrate high levels of academic achievement for his/her students. Forty-Four teachers were nominated this year and were introduced during the American Education Week Reception which was held on November 21, 2013. Twenty outstanding educators completed the Candidate Questionnaire to be eligible for consideration. The Teacher of the Year recipients each received $500 from Alpine Bank and the Montrose Education Foundation. Formed in 1985, the Montrose Education Foundation supports the Montrose and Olathe School District to meet the learning needs of students and to celebrate and recognize the contributions of local educators. To access and submit a nomination form CLICK HERE Announcements 2014 Retirement Reception Mark your calendars, the 2014 MCSD Retirement Reception will be held May 8th at the Holiday Inn from 4-6 pm. If you will be retiring from the District and meet a total of 60 (Minimum 10 years of Services + Age) and have had your retirement Board approved through April, you will be eligible for recognition at the reception. The My Learning Plan Application will allow for you to register for classes, receive notifications of upcoming professional development opportunities, track the number of training hours, print certificates and much more! MCSD wants our Staff to know that we as a District take the Wellness of our Staff seriously. As one way to promote Health & Wellness in your life, we would like to offer you a FREE Confidential, Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and FREE, & Confidential, phone Health Coaching sessions. There will be a drawing for a $25 Gift Card. Everyone who completes the HRA will have their name in the drawing. Everyone who completes the HRA and has one Coaching Session before May 30th will receive a Gift Card. Part of the festivities included a runway fashion show, highlighting many of the local clothing establishments. Also showcased were Central Office’s own local beauties Deann Balash and Mindy Baumgardner. The ladies looked fabulous and rocked the runway!
