introductionofGYPSOILUltraCal™LimeandmarksthefirsttimeGYPSOILhas
marketedlimeinadditiontoitsGYPSOIL™brandgypsum.

UltraCalLimeisahighly-pure,high-calciumlimethatisavailableatGYPSOIL
dealersthroughouttheMidwest.Ithasaneutralizingindexof90-99,indicatingthat
UltraCalLimeoffersthehighestrelativevalueavailablebasedonpurity(percent
calciumcarbonateequivalent)andfineness(particlesize).Itis97percentcalcium
carbonateorhigher,with38.2percentormorecalcium.
UltraCalLimeisafast-actingandhighlyeffectivelimingtool.Sofarmerscan
typicallyapplylessproducttoamendsoilsthaniftheyoptedforlimewithalower
neutralizingindex.“Wemanufactureaccordingtospecificqualityguidelines,dayin

manufacturedfromcalciumcarbonate(CaCO3)versusmagnesiumcarbonate
(MgCO3)limestone.UltraCalLime,saysSchuurman,isanideallimingoptionfor
commonMidwesternsoilsthataretight,pronetocompactionandnaturallyhighin
magnesium.Incontrast,dolomiticlime(CaCO3+MgCO3)canexacerbatesoil
structuralproblemsbyaddingmoremagnesiumintothesoilcomplex.
