Our core values build the foundation for all we do: Engagement, Community, Enrichment, Excellence and Welcoming. landmark a community treasure f ew towns can boast about a unique community center like Port Washington’s Landmark on Main Street. The Main Street School, in operation from 1909 to 1985, was rescued from demolition by an amazing grassroots effort to become Landmark on Main Street in November 1995. Located in the heart of Port Washington, the not-for-profit organization Landmark on Main Street, Inc. has been charged with managing the Doctors’ Gymnasium and the 425-seat Jeanne Rimsky Theater. The Theater, a cultural gem in our community and a regional treasure for Long Island, presents more than 40 events each year. The diverse programming includes Folk, Broadway/ Cabaret, Roots Rock, Acoustic, World Music, Comedy and our popular LANDMARKids! Series. The free series “Conversations from Main Street” brings authors, business leaders, educators, celebrities, sports figures and other notables to discuss important and timely issues. The multi-use building also houses other essential agencies: the Port Washington Children’s Center, the Parent Resource Center and Port Youth Council’s Teen Center (The PiT). Each notfor-profit group provides vital services to area constituencies, and has access to the Doctors’ gymnasium. There are also 59 low-income senior citizen apartments on the upper floors. As a community center, we respond to the needs of our area residents. When Superstorm Sandy hit, we opened our doors to the PW Office of Emergency Management to house their hurricane recovery center. LANDMARK also runs an extensive affordable rental program for the theater and gym to ensure the widest usage possible. These spaces are used by organizations and individuals to present concerts, dance and music recitals, Arangetrams, birthday parties and even body building competitions. With great pride, LANDMARK presents The New Season, 2014-2015! 1 2014 2015 the new season DATE ARTIST TIMEPAGE Sat, Oct 11, 2014 Fri, Oct 17, 2014 Sat, Oct 18, 2014 Mon, Oct 20, 2014 Fri, Oct 24, 2014 Wed, Oct 29, 2014 Sat, Nov 1, 2014 Sat, Nov 8, 2014 Thu, Nov 13, 2014 Sat, Nov 22, 2014 Sat, Dec 6, 2014 Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Sat, Jan 17, 2015 Fri, Jan 23, 2015 Sat, Jan 24, 2015 Fri, Jan 30, 2015 Wed, Feb 4, 2015 Fri, Feb 6, 2015 Sat, Feb 7, 2015 Fri, Feb 27, 2015 Sat, Feb 28, 2015 Sat, Mar 7, 2015 Fri, Mar 13, 2015 Wed, Mar 25, 2015 Sat, Mar 28, 2015 Sat, Apr 18, 2015 Sat, Apr 25, 2015 Sat, May 2, 2015 Sat, May 16, 2015 Sun, May 31, 2015 Sat, June 13, 2015 Jimmy Webb & Jane Monheit 8pm 4 The Felice Brothers 8pm 10 Jeremy Jordan 8pm 6 Cameron Carpenter 7pm16 Free! Thanks to the generosity of the Town of North Hempstead who provided a $150,000 capital improvement grant, we completed Phase I of our renovations in our Jeanne Rimsky Theater in summer 2014. We rebuilt our stage, painted, rewired lights and in the fall we will have beautiful, new lighting fixtures installed in the lobby and theater. This is the first step in a multistage capital improvement plan that you’ll hear much more about – designed by Glen Grayson of Hoffman Grayson Architects. Also new for this season, we are so proud to work with Michelle Shain of Headlights Creative on our beautiful new logo, branding and marketing pieces. We hope you are enjoying our communication materials more than ever. Last year we replaced our speaker racks which have received thunderous applause from our audience members who not only love the music that’s on the stage but how clear the speakers sound. This purchase was made possible thanks to the Estate of Katherine Bandfield. We’re grateful to our programming partners for so many incredible programs this season including Usdan Center, Port Washington Public Library, CAMI Music, The Dolphin Book Shop, and the Women’s Fund of Long Island. Thank you also to Dot & Ed Slade for providing the funding for the Slade Concert Series for Kelli O’Hara’s return on June 13th, 2015.
