NEW HOURS REC. CENTER & GYM
The Town of Ahoskie’s
Parks and Recreation
Department is dedicated
and committed to providing
the citizens of Ahoskie and
the surrounding areas with
a well rounded parks and
recreation program. It is
our mission to offer all
citizens a variety of
activities to make living in
our community an
enjoyable experience. In
addition to activities, the
building is opened MondayThursday from 8:30 a.m.
until 7:00 p.m. and from
8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on
Friday, Saturday 9am5:00pm for patrons to utilize
the center. Aerobics are on

Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday mornings and
Monday -Thursday
evenings from 6:00 until
7:00 p.m.
The gym is now open on
Saturday 2 pm- 7:00 pm
and Sunday 5:00pm- 8:00
pm. Come by and see us!

Let’s Get Moving
WE NEED YOU!
Join us for our new
walking club the “Ahoskie
Wild Soles” Beginning in
March we will start a new
morning, lunchtime and
afternoon walking club.
We will walk around the
new Ahoskie Recreational
Complex. This will allow
us the opportunity to see a
variety of wildlife as we
walk from White Tail
Deer, Red Tail Hawks and
much more. If our club
times do not fit your
schedule come by and
pick up a trails map and
get moving.
The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for
volunteers to help with a number of classes and service
opportunities. So if you have a special skill such as
woodworking, painting, photography or any other fun
activities you would like to share please give us a call.
The department is also getting ready to start several
service projects. So if your club or group would like to
help please contact us. We will be painting the gym,
cleaning and painting the playground behind the
Recreation Center, cleaning and painting Hall Park
and more so let us know if you want to be a part of
making our community better. Thank you in advance
for joining us in working on these exciting projects.

Parks and Recreation Staff
The Ahoskie Parks and Recreation Department is staffed by: Director
Tina Pritchard and full time staff Loretta Carter, Recreation Center
Attendant, Terry Taylor and Larry Sessoms, and Recreation Program
Supervisors. Our office is located at 1103 West Main St. in Ahoskie
between the Community Playground and the Woodpark. Come by or
call us at (252) 332-2064 for additional information about our
department, rentals and programs.

Recreation Center
Your center offers a
variety of
opportunities. The
weight room or fitness
room offers a variety of
fitness equipment from
treadmill to a multiunit weight equipment
pieces. Lockers are
available .
For a small
membership fee you
may use the equipment
and take part in any of
the five exercise/dance
classes offered
included.

The Center also offers a
variety of board games
for all ages that may be
checked out. Also we have
air hockey, table tennis
and foos ball. Outside the
center we offer
horseshoes, volleyball and
2 playgrounds as well as
picnic areas. Across the
street we have 2 lighted
tennis courts.
The aerobic room has
small weights and mats
for your use. So come by
and check us out and let’s
get moving!
Ahoskie Recreational
Complex
This new facility offers 3lighted 300’ ball fields,
concession stand/restrooms,
playground, picnic shelter,
soccer field, amphitheater,
horse shoe pits, beach
volleyball court and
parking. There are a
number of open fields used
for golf practice and
walking trails. There are
power and water resources
around the park. Future
plans include a splash park,
dog park and more trails.

Richard Street Park
This park offers the only
outdoor basketball court
in the town. It also offers
swings, a picnic area and
a new grill.
Hall Park
This park offers a
playground, grill, and
picnic area.
Mitchell Park
This park offers a
restroom, picnic tables,
and benches and soon
will offer a number of
trails.

Congratulations!
We are very proud of all of our teams.
The Ahoskie Parks and Recreation Cheerleaders competed in the Edenton
Cheerleading Competition on November 11, 2010. Over fifty teams took part
in the event. The Ahoskie Pee Wee team took 1st place in the event. The
Ahoskie Midget team also place 3rd in their event. Our congratulations go out
to all of these dedicated athletes as well as the entire Ahoskie Cheerleading
team. They are under the direction of Kim Drake and her volunteers. We are
so proud of all of our teams and wish the good luck in all future competitions.
