Kiwanis Cinco De Mayo Concert In Balboa Park
The annual free and family friendly concert to benefit the SDSU School of Music and Dance will be
hosted by the San Diego Kiwanis Club at the Balboa
Park Organ Pavilion at 6:00 pm.

Red Velvet Fudge by Amanda and Friends
Mother’s Day Ideas
(Budget-friendly with Quality-time)
Ingredients:
2c white sugar
1/4c cocoa
1c buttermilk (or sub for 1/2c buttermilk, 1/2c sweet
condensed milk)
3tsp butter
1tsp vanilla
1tsp red gel food coloring
1. Cook mom her favorite meal
2. Rent a movie, pop popcorn and snuggle
3. Go ice skating or rollerblading
4. Have dessert only at your favorite restaurant
Directions: use a 5x9 baking pan and line w/ wax paper
Combine sugar, cocoa, buttermilk (and/or sweet condensed milk) and food coloring in a 4q pot.
Stir and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Heat to
238 degrees.
Reduce heat and simmer fudge (no stirring at this
point)
Cool fudge to 110 degrees then add butter and vanilla.
Beat for 20 minutes until fudge loses its sheen.
Place fudge in pan and cool for 1-2 hours.
Makes 25 small squares.
