Woodstock, ON – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Can-Am is pleased to announce the Clinicians of the Can-Am All
Breeds Equine Emporium are available for private sessions with your farm or association between Monday, May
25 and Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Clinicians are able to cover a wide variety of topics. The following is a brief description of each.
For over 25 years, Bob Jeffreys has been helping riders develop their horsemanship skills
to produce the most rewarding relationship possible with their horses. He is the founder
of the Partnership Training for Horse & Rider® system and his unique Vowel Method of
Applied Pressure™ enhances the rider’s ability to communicate using the most effective
techniques available to gain control over the horse’s specific body parts. His students
enjoy his no-nonsense approach, witty attitude and his uncanny ability to pinpoint
problems and develop specific solutions.
Suzanne’s love of horses and their beautiful movement, in-depth understanding of
correct biomechanics and teaching expertise have all come together in her work as a
horse trainer.

Horsemanship™, Suzanne’s cross disciplinary equine interests include trail riding,
dressage, reining, jumping, gaited horses and more. She is an AQHA Professional
Horsewoman with a Masters Degree in Education, a black sash in Tai Chi and more than
20 years of teaching experience. Suzanne’s unique ability to teach complex equitation
concepts in a humorous, creative and down to earth style empowers her students to
progress in their chosen discipline safely, effectively and joyfully.
The award winning Canadian Cowgirls Precision Riding Team from Chatham-Kent,
Ontario, burst into the arena with a presence that brings the audience to their feet!
Their musical performances dazzle audiences with their precision riding, stunning
costumes, and dangerous and daring maneuvers. They are an elite precision drill team
that has galloped into the hearts of fans nationwide. The Cowgirls and their horses have
thrilled audiences and parade goers internationally. They have been awarded the
“Best Mounted Unit” in prestigious events such as; the Calgary Stampede, the Kentucky
Derby Pegasus Parade, the Indy 500 Parade and have appeared in a morale boosting
documentary for the Canadian Armed Forces. The Canadian Cowgirls have been
honoured with the 2006 "Ontario Sports Award" for outstanding contribution to sport in
Ontario! They have opened and performed at the largest multi-breed equine venues
on the continent, including Equine Affaire in Massachusetts & Ohio and The Can-Am
Equine Emporium in London, Ontario and Windsor, Nova Scotia. At the 2005 West
Virginia Strawberry Festival Parade (billed as the East Coast version of the Rose Bowl) they were invited to escort
the Calgary Stampede President and the famous Canadian float, subsequently resulting in the Stampede
President’s personal invitation for them to perform at the Calgary Stampede in July of 2006. In 2005, the
Canadian Cowgirls were inducted into the world renowned Kentucky Horse Park “Performer's Family” after an
incredible performance there. Since 2004, the Cowgirls have been the opening and featured act for the
Rawhide Rodeo Company. At the 2004 Tournament of Champions their performances earned compliments
from "Captain Canada" himself, Canadian Olympic Champion Ian Miller as they rode alongside the Canadian
Equestrian Team. These amazing accomplishments have all occurred since their inception in 2003! Team
Captain, Terry Jenkins will be able to explain what it takes to put together a drill team and how to coach and
prepare for professional presentations.
Jason Patrick is a ranch raised Colorado cowboy who discovered natural horsemanship
as a teenager working on ranches in Northern California. Watching the older
gentlemen at California brandings working in true partnership with their horses inspired
Jason to start learning better ways of horsemanship. Twenty years later, Jason has
developed his own style of horsemanship that has been noticed and appreciated by
people from across the country. Whether it was competing in Ranch Rodeos, Ranch
Horse Versatility Competitions, or completing everyday ranch work, Jason's horses have
always spoken for themselves and thus, Jason's reputation has grown. Jason has been
featured on CMT, RFD, numerous radio programs and publications across the country
and featured at Rocky Mountain horse expos.
With a humble approach to
horsemanship and a never ending smile, Jason has built a following of supporters who
have found fun new levels of horsemanship.
Lindsay Grice draws regularly on the sports psychology training she gained through
coaching education. She is a certified Equine Canada coach as well as NCCP (multi
sport) coach. “Handling show nerves, distractions, and disappointments is as much a
part of a success as the technical riding skills.” Her students have won at major shows in
the United States and Canada. Lindsay continues to actively compete in both english
and western events, specializing in the American Quarter Horse Association circuit, and
is frequently is in the winner’s circle. Her popular seminars take her throughout North
America, creating thinking horsemen of her students by teaching the “hows” and
“whys” of riding. She says “Ideally, horses, whatever the discipline, should “play” like a
musical instrument, understanding and responding to every subtle cue from the rider.”
Lindsay has often been a guest lecturer for the University of Guelph’s Equine Behaviour
programs and regularly teaches weekend clinics for local breed associations and 4H
clubs.
Matt McLaughlin’s dedication to the training of horse and rider is based on his system of
horsemanship that integrates classical principles of dressage, the requirements of
today’s competitive dressage, and Natural Horsemanship techniques. Mr. McLaughlin
studied primarily under Chuck Grant, USDF Hall of Fame member and recognized father
of American dressage. As a working student, he not only furthered his dressage riding
skills, but also learned the art of training horses in haute école for exhibition
performances. Matt spent the next seven years as the Principal Rider, Head Rider and
eventually Head Trainer for the Royal Lipizzaner Stallion Show. He trained as many as 16
stallions and riders for the daily performances all over North America, Europe and Australia in addition to
performing his own high-energy solo acts. Matt McLaughlin has successfully trained several horses through
Grand Prix Dressage that have gone on to compete nationally and internationally as well as multiple horses
finished in haute école including Capriole, Courbette, and Levade. Currently based in Florida, Matt is
competing successfully on the Florida show circuit. In addition, he travels throughout North America and
Europe as a clinician, lecturing and performing at exhibition venues with his Andalusian haute école and
dressage acts.
Terry Myers is a leading trainer, champion rider and breeder, and national clinician.
Myers has trained stock and hunter horses for state, national and world competition for
over 30 years. His training incorporates work with both horse and rider to achieve
balanced movements. His Ride-in-Sync™ philosophy helps students understand how
body position affects horse performance.
Clinics: Myers has hosted clinics in
horsemanship, showmanship, trail, and body positioning at Can-Am All Breed Equine
Emporiums in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Equine Affaire Massachusetts, Equine Affaire
Ohio, Equus America Texas, Equus America Missouri, and Equitana USA. Media: Horse &
Rider magazine selected Myers to judge Conformation Clinic. He is also a regular advice
columnist for Horse & Rider's Sound Advice column. Myers hosted an Internet chat on
EquiSearch.com, an online magazine, and continues to answer visitors’ training
questions. Coaching: Myers was formerly the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association
coach for the Ohio Wesleyan University Equestrian Team. The team competed in Zone 6
Region 3 of IHSA—against schools such as Michigan State University, Otterbein College, and the University of
Findlay. As well as coaching the team, Myers taught university physical education classes at OWU. The OWUET
competes in English, dressage, and Western events. Each spring, Myers aided team
members as they hosted a show in conjunction with The Ohio State University team and
stables.
Tracy Porter and her flashy, versatile stallion Caz, have educated, enlightened and
encouraged horse lovers with their unique and versatile backgrounds at many horse
fairs in the States and Canada for the past 8 years. Her years of training experience has
been fuelled by her desire to learn and always strive to improve her training techniques
by keeping an open mind to new and different ideas, not being afraid to change if
there is a better way. Tracy feels it is important to understand how your horse thinks and
how to safely use principles and solve horse problems. The information covered in her
training DVDs, clinics and demos are geared for all levels of riders and disciplines. Her
background spans from relaxing down the trail, showing in traditional and gaited horse
worlds to endurance riding and team penning! She is a professional horse trainer of nongaited and gaited breeds. Since 1977, Tracy and her mother have raised Paso Fino
Horses on their Wisconsin farm where it is the home to 50+ horses. In her spare time, she
travels giving clinics and lessons. Her writing is seen in many regional and national
publications as well as on many equine websites.
