Peru Needs Your Used Sneakers! Old shoes. New lives. Imagine playing your favorite sports in your school shoes because you can’t afford a pair of tennis shoes. This is a reality for many young women in Peru who play sports with GirlSportWorks. The Zapatillos program is working to change this and needs your help! What is GirlSportWorks (GSW)? GirlSportWorks is a small nonprofit dedicated to teaching girls life skills through athletics. Every year GSW works with over 150 Chicas Dinámicas ranging in age from 6­16 in Cusco, Peru to teach values such as leadership, communication, teamwork, self­esteem and healthy living through sports education. Our Chicas Dinámicas use these newly developed skills to become leaders in their communities! How can you help? Donate your used athletic shoes (sneakers, cleats, indoors, turfs) for children ages 6­16 to GSW to enable the Chicas Dinámicas to come to class fully prepared to meet their athletic potential and learn valuable life lessons!
