County Route (CR) 93 (Middlebush Road/Myers Corners Road) Corridor Management Plan Town of Wappinger Poughkeepsie‐Dutchess County Transportation Council Dutchess County New York State Department of Transportation Background • Request from the Town of Wappinger to Dutchess County Public Works • Placed on PDCTC’s work program • Used Federal Highway Administration planning funds • Consultant Team & Advisory Committee • 5 Advisory Committee meetings; 3 public meetings • Began in August 2009; Completed in June 2011 New York State Department of Transportation Purpose • Corridor study • Goals: Manage growth Reduce congestion Improve safety Improve travel options (walking, bicycling, transit) • Transportation and land use strategies • Short‐term and long‐term recommendations New York State Department of Transportation Study Area 20 intersections studied 7 signalized 13 non‐signalized New York State Department of Transportation 1. Issues and Observations – Transportation • Volume on CR 93 ranges from 7,000 to 18,000 vehicles per day • Highest volumes are between Route 9 and Kent Road • 5:00 – 6:00 PM represents the highest volume period (overall) • Busiest intersections (based on traffic counts) are at Route 9, Route 9D, Route 376, and CR 94 (All Angels Hill Road) New York State Department of Transportation 1. Issues and Observations – Travel Options • Little pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure (i.e. sidewalks, wide shoulders, bike lanes, paths) • Low pedestrian and bicycle traffic • Transit service is limited and infrequent • No bus shelters or posted stops along the corridor New York State Department of Transportation 1.
