Weekend Retreat:
Buddha of Compassion
Chenrezig Empowerment and
Teaching of Shakya Shri’s Mind Terma
On: Friday 25th January at 7.00pm Introduction,
Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th January from 9.30-4pm
Venue: Fern Tree Community Centre, 8 Stephenson
Place, Fern Tree.
Shakya Shri (1853-1919) was an accomplished
master of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions.
He was recognized as one of the 25 accomplished
disciples of Guru Padmasambhava, and is the great
grandfather of Khandro Rinpoche.
This Mind Terma was directly transmitted from
Guru Padmasambhava to Shakya Shri during
meditation, flowing spontaneously from his mind.
Such a direct and profound teaching on compassion
is very relevant in this chaotic time. Khandro
Rinpoche will bestow the empowerment for this
special practice and in addition teach on its meaning.

Khandro Thrinlay
Chodon is a lay
female Buddhist
practitioner and
spiritual teacher.
Born in the Indian
Himalayas to a family
of renowned Tibetan
yogis of the Drukpa
tradition, Khandro-la
began her spiritual
training as a small
child and has studied
both Eastern and
Western approaches
to spiritual psychology.
She is devoted to bringing alive the wisdom of her
ancient tradition into our modern world and has, with
the encouragement of many Vajrayana Buddhist
masters, since 2003 been teaching in the West.
She focuses on spirituality in daily life.
Khandro-la is the embodiment of warmth and
humanness and her teachings skilfully inspire us to
deepen our awareness and courageously expand
into the path of wisdom, joy and compassion.
Khandro-la’s life work and vision, ˜Khachodling”
engages in spiritual and humanitarian projects in
the remote Indian Himalayas. Khachodling
translates as a place where the heart essence of
wisdom, known as the feminine principle in
Buddhism, is nourished and respected.

Khandro Rinpoche
Hobart Teachings January 2013
This will be Khandro Rinpoche’s 6th and most
extensive visit to Tasmania yet. As well as a
public talk and four-week course she will be
leading a weekend Chenrezig retreat including
an empowerment and teachings on this special
practice from her family lineage.
There will also be a Candlelight Puja, outdoor
Respecting and Connecting to the Land
ceremony and a fundraiser to support
Khachodling’s humanitarian projects. In addition
there is the opportunity for one-on-one sessions
with Khandro-la.
While we have been very fortunate that Khandro
Rinpoche has been making nearly annual visits
to Tasmania for almost as long as she has been
teaching in the West, it is likely to be some time
before she is able to return again.
Don’t miss out on this precious opportunity!
Public Talk:
Priceless Stability - The Meditation Path
On: Thursday 10th January at 7.30pm
Venue: Hodgkin Hall, The Friends School, access
via Carr Street, North Hobart.
Life is constantly in a state of flux and change.
We never know what is just around the corner.
We often lose ourselves in the busyness of our lives
and focus on a false solidity of who we are and how
our lives should be. This can create uncertainty and
instability that gives rise to restless thoughts and
emotions. But when we take the time to look deeply,
we can discover our innate peaceful nature, which
is beyond our thoughts, concepts and emotions.
In Buddhism this innate peaceful nature affords us
a stability that is unaffected by outer circumstance
and helps us to deal with life’s difficulties with
dignity and compassion.
The inward journey to reveal this priceless stability
is called the path of meditation.
In these teachings, Khandro-la will introduce us to
meditation methods that help us to stop for a
moment and surrender to
deeper truths.
From this ground of
priceless stability we
develop the strength to
break the cycle of everyday
reactive habits and live
joyfully and courageously
with whatever life
challenges we are facing.

The Journey Inward:
A Four Week Course
with Khandro Thrinlay Chodon
Venue: 456 Huon Road, South Hobart.
In our busy lives we seldom stop and look within.
We lose ourselves in business and forget our
interconnectedness to everything around.
Meditation trains us to stop for a moment and look
deeply. This calms our mind to notice the true
depth and beauty within. From this ground we
develop strength to break the cycle of everyday
reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously
in dealing with life's sufferings. In this four-week
course Khandro Rinpoche will provide us with a
thorough introduction on the basic ground for
meditation.
