Wall/Slot® Systems Wall/Slot-II Van Wylen Library, Hope College Holland, Michigan Architect: Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott Photography: Nick Wheeler Wall/Slot®-2000, Wall/Slot®-II, Wall/Cove™ The late John E. Flynn, Professor of Illumination Studies at Pennsylvania State University, in his research on the psychology of lighting, identified that wall lighting improves visual clarity, enhances perceived spaciousness, and adds a sense of relaxation. Studies by the National Research Council of Canada confirm Flynn's work. People consistently rate rooms with wall lighting as brighter and more pleasant. These psychological studies provide important insight for lighting design, as we strive to create lighting schemes that are appealing and comfortable. 2 781-294-0100 Wall/Slot-2000 Wall/Slot Systems Wall/Cove Swanson Rink Mechanical & Electrical Consulting Engineers Denver, Colorado Photography: Matt Slater Wall/Cove Winchester Hospital Winchester, Massachusetts Architects & Engineers: Keyes Associates Beyond the Aesthetics Litecontrol's Wall/Slot systems are engineered to meet three objectives: ■ Ease of installation with a unique wall mounting rail. ■ Design flexibility through options such as various baffles, baffle positions and lamping options. ■ Wall/Slot-2000 Laurence Youngblood Energy Library Norman, Oklahoma Lighting Design: Lighting Dynamics Phoenix, Arizona Photography: James Wilson Architectural compatibility, with complete 90° and 135° corners and detailing for all conventional ceiling types. 3 781-294-0100 Wall/Slot®-2000 See the light, not the fixture Architectural Details The clean appearance is carried through the design of corners and connectors, completing the architecturally appealing system. Wall/Slot-2000 is particularly appropriate for long corridors, large conference rooms, courtrooms, high-ceiling spaces, bathrooms - any space with a ceiling slot that can be easily viewed. Lamps are concealed at all viewing angles, without the need for a baffle. Wall/Slot-2000 is equally suited to small U.S.Patent No. D329,299 offices, libraries and public spaces. A Unique Features A ■ The first truly concealed source perimeter system, allowing you to see the light, not the fixture. ■ Delivers a smooth wash of light on the wall while also providing ambient light in the space. light vertically down the wall. With a variety of diffusers and baffles available and the capability to accommodate all ceiling types, Wall/Slot-II can achieve the desired look in any space. Mitered corner baffles and a unique splining system allow for a continuous slot appearance throughout a space. 9' sample layout under lamps flush regressed Vertical Footcandles 22 8' 9 7' CORRIDOR 11 11 12 14 17 24 47 One 48' row with 9" (229) one-lamp T8 fixtures 3 5/8" (92) 10 1/2 – 3/4" (267 – 19) 6' 7 6 5' ■ 85N14T8-F/BW 5 4' REFLECTANCES: 80/70/20 11 12 12 13 15 20 27 5 3' LIGHT LOSS FACTOR: .75 5 2' POWER DENSITY: 1.11 W/ft2 Horizontal Footcandles 5 1' 10 10 10 11 13 17 20 AVG. Wall/Cove Wall lighting for spaces with low ceilings Architectural Details Wall/Cove attaches to the wall at the ceiling. Finished in white, it virtually disappears into the ceiling because of its shallow 2 7/8" depth. When finished in a color, it becomes an architectural accent. Wall/Cove is often used with a fascia to match or complement other architectural elements. The fascia serves to shield the fixture and lamps from normal viewing angles, to achieve a concealed cove effect. The specular reflector option in the one-lamp fixture is an energy-effective option for lighting bulletin boards or chalkboards. Unique Features ■ Designed for spaces that require wall illumination, but do not have the plenum space to use a traditional Wall/Slot. ■ Available with several optional baffles or diffusers. sample layout ■ For continuous row wiring, knockouts are also provided on each end header. 8' 9 7' CORRIDOR One 48' row with 11 11 12 15 20 30 46 one-lamp T8 fixtures 6 6' 5 5' 4 4' REFLECTANCES: 80/70/20 13 13 15 16 19 21 23 4 3' LIGHT LOSS FACTOR: .75 4 2' 2 Horizontal Footcandles 4 1' ■ 8314T8-S/BW Easy Installation ■ Installed as a wall-mounted fixture with keyholes and knockouts positioned on the back of the housing. 9' Vertical Footcandles 22 POWER DENSITY: 1.12 W/ft AVG.
