 If the old and new duty stations are within the same commuting area, shipment of household
goods is not authorized
 Shipment to/from a designated location may be limited in cost
OCONUS ORDERS: can be land-based or assignment to a vessel
 FROM your current duty station, a PDS, a previously designated location or Non-Temporary
Storage (NTS )
 TO your new duty station, a designated location within the United States, a designated nonForeign overseas location (i.e. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico) or NTS
oContinued NTS is authorized
oYou cannot ship from NTS to NTS
 You may request a HHG shipment, a UB shipment or place items into NTS
 Some overseas locations will require Dependent Entry Approval (DEA) prior to shipping HHG
 Must have 12 months remaining from the time shipment arrives at overseas destination
 Shipment to a member-designated location is limited in cost; if you elect to ship part of your
property to your overseas location and part to a designated location, shipment will also be
limited in cost.
