MESSAGE FROM THE WIZARD FOUNDATION
Our first Playoff Pool launched on April 5, 1988 through the efforts of Paul Stevens, Peter Redolfi, Paul
Damp, Bob Murphy, Bruce Ander, Dave Turnbull, Howard Neubauer, Kevin Worth, David Garard, Brian
Beveridge and Bob Nicholson.
We never envisioned the journey this event would take or the many friends who would step forward to
support it and help us grow. We are here tonight to celebrate our 27th anniversary thanks to the participation
of 204 companies who have entered 903 teams over the years, including 30 companies identified on
Page 9 who have participated for 10+ years each.
We would like to extend a special thank you and recognition to the following:
Paul Beeston and the Toronto Blue Jays: Paul’s support and encouragement helped this event get
launched and grow during its formative years. We continue to be the beneficiary of the Club’s generosity.
TSN: One of Special Olympics’ biggest friends, TSN has supported us for 25 years. Our thanks to all
the company’s Presidents throughout the network’s history: Gordon Craig, Jim Thompson, Rick Brace,
Keith Pelley, Phil King and Stewart Johnston.
Paul Damp: Paul is our triple threat: One of the Wizard Foundation’s founders, an organizer of the
original event and the only participant to bring a team to all 27 events.
Joe Bowen: Joe has been our longest standing Commissioner, ruling over the evening for 24 of our
first 27 years, and he has never precipitated a lockout. We can’t imagine our event today without Joe’s
knowledge, humour and commitment.
Digger Turnbull: Digger joined our Organizing Committee in 1992 and through Fantasy Sports Services
has taken our event to another level. Digger’s passion, creativity and desire to always help continues
to be an inspiration for all of us.
The Wizard Foundation was an idea hatched over a few beers at a cottage during the summer of 1985 by
nine high school friends. Six of these friends participated in the original 1988 event.
The Wizard Foundation was formed to give back to the community. Inspired by Brian & Bruce Etherington
and David Garard’s work to create the Sports Celebrities Festival, we made Special Olympics Ontario (SOO)
our first draft choice. As a result we have won every year since! With the proceeds from this evening, the
cumulative donation to SOO after 27 years is over $1.4 million. However our greatest satisfaction is the
knowledge of the impact of your support on thousands of lives.
Thank you for making it possible. Enjoy the evening and good luck with your draft selections!

SUPPORTING SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Special Olympics is more than an event –
Special Olympics Ontario delivers world-class
sport programs to people with intellectual
disabilities daily in communities across Ontario.
Over the past 46 years, Special Olympics has grown from a modest program serving local athletes to
becoming the world’s largest movement dedicated to promoting respect, acceptance, inclusion, and
human dignity for people with intellectual disabilities through sports.
Special Olympics inspires people to be active, whether it is an athlete through personal participation
or by volunteering or sponsoring a program. We are designed to be an engagement gateway and our
mandate can only be fulfilled through an insatiable desire to increase our athlete population.
With sports as a priority, Special Olympics has grown to be a movement that is not just about the
largest disability population in the world, but about all of us. Sports are a universal language that
unites people on and off the field of play, cutting across lines of race, ethnicity, education level, social
status, and economic background.
We desire to be the best and our coaches and volunteers are amongst the most dedicated and
inspirational people you will ever come across. We are very fortunate that our supporters and sponsors
believe in our mission and while the financial turbulence has affected everyone, donors continue to be
steadfast and committed.
Special Olympics is more than sports. We are a leader in programs that improve the health and fitness
of athletes, resulting in enhanced well-being, sports performance and quality of life. If you are a coach,
volunteer, donor or a sponsor, take pride in what we have accomplished - without you, nothing would
be possible!

LEAGUE BY-LAWS
DRAFTING
Order of the draft will be selected by random draw prior to the commencement of dinner. The Organizing
Committee will select for any team who does not have a representative arrive before 5:45 p.m. The draft will
proceed from first to last for the Eastern Conference and then switch to the Western Conference, which will
also draft first to last. Draft will switch back to the Eastern Conference to select from last to first, followed by
the Western Conference drafting last to first.
This process will be repeated until each team has drafted seven players. Goalies for an NHL team are treated
as one pick. There will be a 30-second time limit for each player selection. If the time limit is exceeded, the
Commissioner at his discretion can levy a fine with all proceeds to Special Olympics. The Commissioner’s
decision on the time violations will be final! After selection of a player, please enter your pick on the summary
sheet to be returned at the conclusion of the draft. Players that have not been drafted after the completion of
seven rounds will be eligible for trades (see below). There will be a reception, which will give your team a
chance to prepare and give your competitors bad advice. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.
TRADING
A team may negotiate a trade for a player or a group of players with another team. The Commissioner or his
designated representative must approve all trades before they become official and the master list is updated.
Trading cannot result in a team having more than nine or less than five players.
Trades may be completed with the other Conference. Therefore, it is possible to acquire two of the same players
(e.g. two Sidney Crosbys). A team may trade one-for-one for any players left in the pool. The Commissioner must
give approval. A trade is not completed until a Player Trade Form is filled out and properly signed and authorized.
The deadline for all trades is approximately 30 minutes after the draft is completed on Monday April 13th, 2015.
LEAGUE BY-LAWS
SCORING
Each team will earn points based on the performance of their players. Points are calculated as follows:
STATISTIC
Goal or Assist (Regular Time)
1 point
Winning Goaltending Team
1 point
Bonus Points:
Overtime Goal2 additional points
Overtime Assist 2 additional points
Shutout (Goaltending Team Points)
3 additional points
Examples:
Winning goaltending team that earns a Shutout will earn 4 points.
An Overtime Goal and an Overtime Assist are worth a total of 3 points.
Therefore, if Sidney Crosby scores 5 goals (4 Regular Time Goals and
1 Overtime Goal) and 4 Assists (2 Regular Time Assists and 2 Overtime
Assists) he would have 15 total points.
*Please Note - Goaltending teams will receive
credit for scoring a goal or an assist.
TIE BREAKER
All ties will be broken in the following manner:
Team awarded the higher position in the standings will be the
one who has the player scoring the goal closest to the end of
the playoffs.
