The New 5 Card Cash is Here!
The Maryland Lottery’s newest game is sure to excite your players.
The $2 terminal, poker-style game offers players two ways to win –
up to $10,000 instantly and up to $100,000 during the nightly
drawing.
Please reassure your players that they do not need to know how to
play poker to play this game. All tickets are “quick pick” and feature
five numbers/suits from a field of 52 numbers/suits. Cards featuring
traditional poker hands, such as a pair of Jacks, a Full House or a
Royal Flush can win prizes ranging from a free ticket to $10,000.
For each drawing, ticket sales end daily at 7:30 PM, but resume immediately for the next day’s
drawing. The drawings will not be televised, but results will appear on-screen during the televised
evening drawing, on mdlottery.com and on the Lottery’s winning numbers phone line at 410-230-8830.

Top Prize Claimed
Maryland has another millionaire
in its midst thanks to the Lucky 7s
Game Book. Bryan Caperones, a
Mechanicsville resident, purchased
a Lucky 7s Game Book in early
October from Fred’s Liquors in
Charlotte Hall. Bryan, an elevator
technician, won $25 on the Game
Book he initially purchased. With
his winnings, he decided to buy
another Game Book, which
revealed a $1 million top prize.

We’re excited to introduce our new game, 5 Card Cash, which we are confident
will be a hit with players. This is the first terminal game we’ve launched in quite
some time, and we’re looking forward to seeing players embrace it. With your help,
we can make this game just as popular as our other Lottery games.
With football season in full swing, keep promoting the Ravens Cash Fantasy tickets
and the second-chance contest. Also, as the holidays approach, don’t forget to take
the time to remind players about scratch-off games like It’s a Wonderful Life and
A Wreath of Franklins. Our holiday-themed tickets are always a popular choice this time of year.

Lottery to Celebrate
40th Anniversary in 2013
It’s hard to believe that 2013 marks the Maryland
Lottery’s 40th anniversary. In honor of this special
event, we’ll be celebrating with retailers and players
all year long. We have some exciting things in the
works, including a new commemorative scratch-off,
an exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Industry,
a second-chance contest and much more! Be on
the lookout for more information to come.

Regional Advisory Board Follow-Up
Over 100 retailers from around the state met with us in October at our semiannual Regional Advisory Board meetings in Baltimore, Hagerstown, College
Park, Salisbury and Aberdeen. John Martin, Assistant Director for Lottery,
presented a wide variety of topics including upcoming instant ticket product
launches, fall and winter game promotions, the introduction of 5 Card Cash
and new in-store merchandising programs like SalesMaker. “I enjoy the
interaction with our retail partners,” said Martin. “It’s great to see familiar
faces in the crowd as well as meet new retailers.” According to Martin, the
Lottery is already planning for spring meetings in April.

Among the many topics discussed by attendees was iLottery. Retailers had the
opportunity to address their concerns over the emerging distribution channel
and what it may mean for their businesses. “At this point we’re still collecting
information,” Martin said. “I would encourage any retailer with questions
or concerns to give me a call.”
