Summer Worship and Music at the Randolph Church
Sundays in July and August will include a full schedule of worship services and afternoon musical programs at
the Randolph Church. The traditional 10:30 am worship will feature local and visiting guest preachers along with
uplifting hymn singing and the ministry of music on the Cross Memorial organ.
July 6th our opening day worship leader is Rosalie Richards from Berlin and features Barbara Bishop at the organ.
July 13th worship leader is Eleanor McLaughlin with Heywood Alexander on the organ.
July 20th brings Lorain Giles from Lunenburg VT as worship leader with Patti Dunn, organist. We gather again
for a traditional Hymn Sing at 4:30 in the afternoon.
July 27th will feature Jeff Bean from Thomaston CT as worship leader with Susan Ferré at the organ. At 4:30
will be a service of Congregational Evensong led by our music chair, Susan Ferré.
August 3rd worship leader is William May now from Bethesda MD. Peter Krasinski will be the organist for the
day who will also present a special organ concert at the church again at 4:30.
August 10th will be led by Richard Doyle from East Hampton, CT. Suzanne Ozorak is the organist. Following
worship, the 130th annual meeting of the church and a brief meeting of the newly elected Board of Management
will be held.
August 17th will feature Edgar Adams of Richmond VA as worship leader and Christopher Anderson at the organ. At 4:30 a lecture-demonstration on Luther and Bach, co-sponsored by MGNW, will be offered by Christopher Anderson.
August 24th brings John Weatherly from Alexandria VA as worship leader and Barbara Bishop as organist. At
4:30 Heywood and Linda Alexander, organ and flute, will present a concert to benefit the church Benevolence
Fund and in memory of Harriet Baldwin who did so much to establish this fund and awaken us to the needs of
the North Country.
August 31st will feature Beverly Weatherly as worship leader and Heywood Alexander at the organ. As the concluding day of the Big Moose Bach Fest, a choral works concert will be held at 4:30 at the Medallion Opera
House in Gorham.
Our treasured little chapel in the woods will be the place to be on Sunday this summer. Weather permitting on
select Sundays we will share refreshments on the lawn. Invite someone to attend with you to share in worship,
music, and fellowship.
Woodspring-Stock

Join us for Woodspring-Stock 2014 on Sunday, July 13 at the Cormier home on 62 Woodspring Road.
Music begins at noon and runs until we all are exhausted. This year we will be featuring Sax &
Jackson, our own Bruce Kimball with friends, the
Fireside Fiddlers, Points North, and Pam Weeks
and Bill Olson, fiddler and mountain dulcimer extraordinaire from Maine. Bring a picnic and lawn
chairs and plan to spend the day. The event is free
but donations will be accepted to help offset the
cost of the bands. If anyone has a shade awning
they would be willing to lend, we will gratefully pick
up and return at the end of the day. Thank you!

Summer 2014 RMC Social Events Calendar
Friday July 4: *PLEASE NOTE NEW LOCATION*
The annual RMC Fourth of July Tea will take place on the opening of a long weekend this year AT A
NEW VENUE! Join us at Mark and Katie Kelley’s barn at 98 Randolph Hill Road from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
Don’t miss this kick-off of the summer season with punch, iced tea, and delicious baked goods from
Becky Boothman. Catch up on the latest RMC news, check out new merchandise, meet the trail and
hut crew, and reconnect with old friends.
Wednesday August 6
The summer RMC Gourmet Dinner will be held at Libby’s Bistro at 6:00 PM. This is a fun gastronomical evening not to be missed! Many thanks to owner/chef Liz Jackson who continues to extend her
generosity and talent in support of the RMC. Reservations must be made — please contact one of the
RMC Social Events Co-Chairs.
Thursday August 7
The RMC Gourmet Hike will take place on the Pine Mountain ledges. We will meet at Randolph East
at 10:00 AM. This is a wonderful community tradition of shared fun, food, and fellowship. Thanks to
the Horton Center, a shorter route will be available for those who wish to take it.
Saturday August 9
The RMC Annual Meeting will take place at Town Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Following a presentation
of officer and committee reports and the election of new directors and a new president, RMC member
Tad Pfeffer will present from his new book, "The Hand of the Small Town Builder: John Boothman and
his counterparts in Northern New England.” Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome to
attend.
Saturday August 16
The Annual RMC Picnic and Charades will be held at the Mossy Glen Amphitheater off of Durand
Road from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Please bring a picnic
lunch and your own cup. Punch will be provided. In the event of rain, the picnic and charades will be
moved to the Town Hall.
A Square Dance to Benefit the RMC will be held at Beringer’s Barn, Sugar Plum Farm, 232 Randolph
Hill Road from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. Come dance and enjoy the music of fiddlers Jacqueline & Dudley
Laufman. Many thanks to Marie Beringer for her annual sponsorship of this great event.

RMC Trail Crew News from Mike Miccuci
The Randolph Mountain Club trail crew will be moving into the Stearns lodge on the 26th and 27th of May to
begin three days of orientation. Returning crew Brian Behr, Jordan Cargill, Sarah Allen, Lauren Anzalone and
Ethan Denney will be joined by Dylan Young and Rhiannon Stratton. New to the job but not to the RMC are JP
Krol and Field supervisor Cheryl Byrne who come to trails from camps and the GMC.
For those of you used to perfectly clear trails in early to mid-June, here is a heads up to let you all know that a
grant commitment requires us to jump right into a project on the Link and Cliffway before we patrol this year.
We will get to patrolling in late June, after which the crew will work on a long term project on Four Soldiers and
Underhill and the new trailhead on Randolph Hill Road.
Funding for this summer's projects is through a grant from the NH Recreational Trails Program and the RCF.
Be sure to visit with the crew while you're out on the trails.

Randolph Library News
The library has a new collection of Folkmanis Puppets... a wonderful new addition to the Childrens' Room.
These 12 puppets depict animals native to New Hampshire. They were purchased with money from last year's
book sale.
A telescope was built for us by the New Hampshire Astronomical Society and was their 101st built! It is an Orion Starblast Telescope and is now available to be loaned out for a week at a time. It was bought with a generous donation given by a library patron and is located in the White Mountain Room.
The library will accept used but current periodicals for the enjoyment of their patrons.
Watch for news of the re-opening of the Little Old Library Shoppe on Durand Road this August, specializing in
Used Books and New Art.

Friends of the Randolph Public Library
News and Upcoming Events
The Friends had a successful winter while sponsoring several events and making some new purchases for the
library.
We hosted two pot-luck and movie events, a Humanities to Go lecture which we followed up with a film and we
sponsored various literary and operatic meeting groups. We purchased over $400 of new audio books on CD,
re-vamped the art book collection, funded the children’s snack program and bought decorations for the library.
