9 DAY GREAT NORTHERNER TOUR
NEW ZEALAND
9 DAY GREAT NORTHERNER TOUR
9 DAY / 8 NIGHT NORTH ISLAND EXPERIENCE
Superbly positioned between two stunning harbours, Auckland is a thriving cosmopolitan city in a truly
beautiful setting. In Maori Auckland is known as Tamaki Makau Rau or 'The maiden with a hundred lovers', as
it was an area desired by many tribes. This is not surprising as its location alone makes it amazing. Add a sunny,
warm climate, a pulsating business district, the exotic influence of Polynesian culture and a passion for
sensational food, entertainment and shopping and it is little wonder that Aucklanders enjoy a lifestyle that is
ranked amongst the best in the world.
Auckland is New Zealand's largest city yet within just half an hour you can find yourself in some of the most
diverse environments. A short journey out west to explore the wild West Coast beaches of Muriwai, Bethalls,
Piha or Karekare is essential. Also in this direction are the expansive Waitakere Ranges, a lush rainforest ideal
for anyone seeking hiking or canyoning. From the city travel north over the Harbour Bridge (which can be
climbed and even bungee jumped off) or take a peaceful ferry ride and you'll find yourself on the North Shore,
a relaxed haven of beaches and cafes. Here you can discover Devonport, an arty township where you can
explore North Head for old World War II tunnels and breathtaking harbour and city views.

Hauraki Gulf provides a world of adventure. From a leisurely walk up the black lava volcanic island of Rangitoto
to sunbathing and beachcombing on any one of the other islands scattering the gulf, there is plenty to do.
