There is a pool tournament each month that will be either an

TRIAD Meetings
TRIAD is a cooperation of local and county law enforcement
and seniors in the community. The meetings are held in an effort to
provide the opportunity for an exchange of information, reduce the
criminal victimization of older persons and enhance the delivery of
law enforcement services to older citizens.

We host four dances a year, one close to Valentine’s, a dance

Lap Swimming and Water Walking
A great way to burn calories, improve mobility and build
strength through is through lap swimming and water walking. This
program is designed for you, with flexibility to allow you to come
whenever it is most convenient. Strawberry Pool is heated to 80
degrees, so it feels great as you exercise.

Aqua Jogging
Aqua Jogging in an instructor-led class designed for deep
water. Participants are provided with a flotation belt to help with
balance and stability so the participant can have full range of motion.
This class has no impact on bones and joints, making it a great
way to workout and receive the full benefits of exercise. The class

Home School Swim Program
Home School Swimming is intended for the Home School
Community participants as part of their physical education. The
participants will receive instruction on their swimming skills and
then will engage in an instructor-led, team building activity. The
participants will also be allotted “free swim time” where they will
have the entire pool to themselves and can also converse with the
other participants.

Private Swim Lessons
Private swim lesson provide one-on-one instruction for
participants ready to learn to swim or those who want to improve their
swimming skills. Participants receive four-30 minute sessions with
an instructor. Instructors are Red Cross trained and have received
additional training in instructor courses, so they are qualified to
teach any level of swimmer. Private swim lessons will benefit
beginner level swimmers by teaching them lifesaving techniques.
They can also help more advanced swimmers to improve their
strokes, making them smoother and faster.

Lifeguard Trainings
Lifeguard trainings are offered to individuals seeking
employment with the City of Pasadena Parks and Recreation
Department. Applicants must be at least 15
years of age and must be able to complete
a prerequisite swim test set forth by
the American Red Cross prior to
registration for the lifeguard training.
Swim Tests are scheduled during the
week at the Strawberry Pool. Training
dates are scheduled for weekends

Lifeguard Swim Pass
Lifeguard swim passes are given to individuals seeking
employment as a lifeguard with the City of Pasadena Parks and
Recreation Department. This swim pass allows applicants practice
times to help with swimming skills to pass the prerequisite swim test
for the lifeguard training. Applicants are allowed 5 practice times to
build on their skills and pass the swim test. Additional passes can be
requested but are only approved by the Pool Manager and applicant
must show signs of improvement.

Young Athletes
The Young Athletes program is a sport-play program to
introduce the world of sports to children with cognitive disabilities,
ages 2 to 7, prior to Special Olympics eligibility at age 8. The whole
family can benefit through socialization, coordination, strength
building, motor skills, awareness of self worth, self confidence,
balance, and learning new sports. This program is Special Olympics

Wheelchair basketball, the popular sport of choice for many

Blaze Wheelchair Sports
Children and teens with physical disabilities who utilize
wheelchairs are encouraged to come have fun while experiencing new
sports and learning some introductory skills and basic rules of play.
We’ll play wheelchair sports such as indoor soccer, hockey, softball,
football, rugby, bocce, tennis and much more! Learn from the pros!
Adult wheelchair athletes volunteer their time to mentor to the youth
and share their experience and knowledge. No registration is required

Summer Camps
These camps are designed for individuals with physical and
cognitive disabilities with the exception of Camp Climb, which
is inclusive. Individuals are to be pre-registered prior to attending
camps. All activities in each camp will be adapted to the functional

Jr. Paralympics Sports Camp
Formerly known as Camp Blaze. Adult wheelchair athletes

(i.e. basketball, softball), community outings

Camp Conquer
Camp Conquer combines the benefits of Camp Achieve and
Camp Strive, involving those who meet the age requirements for
Strive but not gaining appropriate experience due to disability. Camp
provides structured activities to include crafts and swimming and
graduates campers into community outings promoting recreational
opportunities. Ages 13 to 21.
