Mike “Doc” Davis was born in Nashville, Tennessee and grew up in Chatsworth, Georgia. Doc served in the United States Marine Corp from 1968 until 1971. He received an
AS degree from Dalton Junior College, a BSA degree in Entomology and Plant Pathology
from the University of Georgia, a Masters degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NOVA University in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Doc proudly spent 30 plus years in public education as a teacher,
assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent of Calhoun City
Schools. He retired from his educational career in 2007 and now resides with his wife, Jane
and Springer Spaniel Annie in Nickelsville, Georgia.
Doc was first introduced to woodworking by his father (a career educator) in their family
woodshop. His father enjoyed making furniture, bookshelves and useful items for local
schools. The time Doc spent with his father in the woodshop inspired him to continue his
craft. Doc first became interested in the art of woodturning in 2007 after attending a weekend woodturning course at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. He has thus returned there several times to study and fine tune his artisan skills. Doc
is mainly self-taught, but has developed a passion for creating bird houses, wine bottle
stoppers, bowls and other items from wood for everyone’s enjoyment.
Doc’s primary source of wood comes only from found wood and never cuts live trees for
his crafts. Primarily southern hardwoods such as maple, walnut, osage orange, poplar, oak,
magnolia, cedar, sycamore, hackberry and cherry are used for his one of kind pieces. Exotic
wood is used form some pens and wine bottle stoppers.

Shipping Rates and Policies
Doc will ship your item within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your
order. In most cases orders placed by 12 p.m. Monday through
Friday are shipped the same day. Doc ships via USPS Mail or via
UPS Ground. Shipping and handling rates are based on the
number and weight of the items.
RETURNS
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your item, contact
Doc via e-mail immediately so Doc can arrange for you to return
your item. Please return the item in the original package in
which it was shipped. Upon receiving the item, Doc will exchange
the item or refund the original purchase price. Return shipping
and insurance costs will be your responsibility.
