FREE Streaming from
Your Library!
Library Hours
The library now offers two free streaming
services, providing Alsip-Merrionette
Park Library cardholders with immediate
Internet access to movies, music and books.
Library Closed
Hoopla Digital provides FREE movies,
TV shows, music, audiobooks, eBooks
and comics. Hoopla is quick, easy and
free. Once you set up a Hoopla account
online or download the app, you will have
immediate access to 300,000 titles from
your smartphone, tablet and computer.
Borrow up to 10 titles per calendar month.
New content is added weekly so be sure to
visit often.
Freegal, the library’s music download service, provides two hours of music-streaming
per day. Freegal offers 9 million songs from
28,000 labels, including Sony Music. In

15th Annual Food and Toy Drive
The library is proud to sponsor our Annual Food and Toy Drive. Please bring new
unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items or monetary donations to the library. All
donations will be distributed by Worth Township to area families in need. For additional

“The Hundred-Foot Journey”

Adults and high school age teens are invited to join us. Arm
knitting is all the rage! It’s a quick and easy way to make
a warm, cozy infinity scarf using nothing more than your
arms. In no time at all you’ll be ready to run out the door
wearing your new scarf. Better yet, give as a gift for the
holidays. Yarn will be provided.
What’s better than watching a movie on the big screen?
Join us in the library’s meeting room for a movie and light
refreshments. Enjoy this uplifting story that bursts with flavor,

Winfrey and starring Academy Award winner Helen Mirren,

The Eisenhower High School Holiday Concert is sure to

The Presidents: Historical Facts,
Trivia and More
Wednesday, February 10 at 7 pm
Historian Jim Gibbons will present fun-filled trivia and
historical facts about the Presidents of the United States.
Did you know that four presidents rode in the same car
that JFK was assassinated in after his assassination? Elvis
met with Richard Nixon and asked to become a Federal
Agent-at-Large? Jimmy Carter fought a “killer” rabbit who
dared to approach his fishing boat? Come enjoy an evening
celebrating our country’s Presidents.
2016 Alsip Library Antiques Show
Wednesday, February 24 at 7 pm
Dust off that antique stored in the attic and have it appraised
by Rex Newell of Rex’s Antiques. This program is very
popular, so register early. The first 40 Alsip-Merrionette Park
Library cardholders have priority.

Grades 2-5. This program will put the Fizz, Boom,
Bang into exploring the fun side of science in this
hands-on program. Get ready to go green!

Checkmate
Saturdays from 10-11 am
Grades 1 and up. Learn new moves and test your skills! Our
instructor will teach a new move each week to develop your
competitive edge. Chess teaches concentration, focus, logic, and
outcome, while promoting the STEM initiative. For all levels –
beginners through experienced.
Grades K to 5. We’re so happy to continue our Eco
Club throughout this winter. We hope to inspire the
children to become life-long environmental protectors.

without even leaving the library. Each week we will
jet off to even more destinations and learn about their
culture while making a craft, and listening to stories.

World Book Online
The library is excited to announce that library cardholders now
have access to the World Book Encyclopedia online. World
Book provides up-to-date, accurate, authoritative information
for preschoolers, younger kids, older students, advanced users,
and Spanish speakers (Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos).
Included are teacher resources, including correlations from
World Book content to state curriculum, links to lesson plans
and activities, and other useful tools for parents and educators.
You’ll find timelines, preschool learning tools and more! To
access World Book Online click the RESEARCH DATABASES
tab on the library’s website, alsiplibrary.info. Be sure to check
out World Book Online, it’s the same great encyclopedia you
remember plus a whole lot more.
Homework Help!
If you or your child are feeling overwhelmed by
homework assignments, rest assured, there is help
available. Library card holders can access LIVE tutors
through Brainfuse, found on the library’s website,
alsiplibrary.info. Just click on the database tab and scroll
down to Brainfuse. Bi-lingual tutors are available every
day from 2-10 pm to chat with you online. You can access
this program from home or from the library. Just make
sure your AMPLD library card is valid and you’re all set
to go! Contact Youth Services if you have any questions.

Cold day? Cozy up with a good book!
Kids Winter Reading Program
Come in from the cold and join our special five-week reading program this winter. Just for reading you can get great prizes and
coupons! Just check in each week, starting Sunday, January 31 and we will give you a prize and/or coupon for the week. Don’t
forget to enter our weekly Chicago Wolves raffle too! There is a $5 non-resident fee to join our winter reading program.
