They’re toll-free to eligible carpools and vanpools, and available for a toll to solo drivers. ® To use them, all you need is FasTrak in your car. Use FasTrak to indicate if you’re driving alone or carpooling with passengers, and your FasTrak account is charged accordingly. To access Metro ExpressLanes: Sign up for a FasTrak account. It’s about choice. It’s about sharing the ride. Solo drivers Metro Vanpools With new access to the ExpressLanes, solo drivers can now beat the tra;c and save time by choosing to use the ExpressLanes as a toll-paying customer. Vanpools continue to share the ride on the ExpressLanes toll-free, earn gift card rewards through the Loyalty Program, and benefit from a van lease subsidy. It’s about rewarding yourself. It’s about more transit service. Carpoolers Transit Riders Eligible carpools travel the ExpressLanes toll-free and are automatically enrolled in the Loyalty Program to earn gift card rewards. Riders on select transit lines* along the ExpressLanes corridors enjoy more frequent service. That means getting where you need to go faster. Plus, with the Transit Rewards program, you can earn ExpressLanes toll credits for taking transit. Mount FasTrak in your vehicle. Before each trip, set FasTrak to indicate how many people are in your vehicle. Enter the ExpressLanes at designated FasTrak entry points. 5 Save time! It’s about time. *Metro, Gardena Municipal Bus, Foothill Transit, Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Torrance Transit and more 4 5 How It Works 7 carpools and vanpools can use the ExpressLanes toll free with a switchable ® FasTrak transponder.* 1 ON EXPRLANES LY ON ESS EXPRLANES LY ESS 6 5 ON EXPRLANES LY ON ESS EXPRLANES LY ESS 4 HOV 3 2+ $ 0 w/F ASTR AK solo drivers on the i-110 8 ON EXPRLANES LY ON ESS EXPRLANES LY ESS 1 ® 2 (graphic not to scale) entrance to the ExpressLanes, the second overhead electronic sign displays two toll amounts: 1) The current toll from this entrance to the next major exit; and 2) the current toll from this entrance to the end of the ExpressLanes. Prior to starting your trip, you will indicate the number of occupants in your vehicle by moving the switch on the transponder to the appropriate setting (1, 2, 3+). 5 The third sign indicates the entry point to the ExpressLanes and informs drivers that FasTrak is required to use the ExpressLanes. 6 The fourth sign marks the start of the ExpressLanes toll segment and is the final reminder to the driver that FasTrak is required beyond this point. 7 Once you are beyond the ExpressLanes entry/exit point, where the dashed white line ends and the double solid white lines begin again, an overhead antenna will read the FasTrak transponder, and for solo drivers who choose to use the ExpressLanes, the correct toll amount will be automatically deducted from your FasTrak account based upon the toll amounts displayed to you on the second sign. Those vehicles that are carpooling and meet the minimum occupancy requirements will not have a toll deducted from their account. 8 Motorcycles do not need a FasTrak transponder to use the ExpressLanes. *2 person carpools are charged a toll on the I-10 ExpressLanes Mon–Fri 5–9am and 4–7pm. 6 2 The I-110 and I-10 Metro ExpressLanes will operate 24/7 and will be separated from the general purpose lanes by double solid white lines. The fine for crossing the double solid white lines is a minimum of $490. 3 The first sign will be a fastrak only ExpressLanes sign approximately 1/2 mile away from the entrance to signify the distance remaining to enter the ExpressLanes. Entry to and exit from the ExpressLanes will be indicated by a single dashed white line. 4 olls on the ExpressLanes are based on the current congestion T level and the length of your trip. Approximately ¼ mile away from the 1 and i-10 with a FasTrak transponder can choose to pay a toll to use the ExpressLanes. The I-110 and I-10 Metro ExpressLanes regulations will be enforced by the California Highway Patrol using visual and electronic means. 7 UNIVERSAL CITY EAGLE ROCK ATWATER VILLAGE GLASSELL PARK 170 PASADENA SAN MARINO 210 DUARTE ARCADIA 101 SAN GABRIEL LOS FELIZ FasTrak® Entry/Exit and Toll Point Locations SILVER LAKE HOLLYWOOD SOUTH PASADENA 2 US-101 Alameda St 110 28th St ExpressLanes Start University of Southern California PALMS California State Fremont University, Los Angeles LAC-USC WB4 Medical Center WB5 DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Alameda St EB2 WB2 Del Mar Av BELL I-105/I-110 HOV Connector SB5 105 El Segundo Bl 110 Normandie Av ExpressLanes End Central Av (to Northbound I-110) ExpressLanes DOWNEY SEE INSET FOR DETAILS El Segundo Bl HACIENDA HEIGHTS NOTE: Solo drivers connecting directly WHITTIER from I-110 ExpressLanes to I-105 must exit at the first available exit point on I-105. 605 710 WATTS NB3 INGLEWOOD WEST COVINA SOUTH EL MONTE BELL GARDENS 110 LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT(LAX) I-605 ExpressLanes End 60 Florence Av SB4 10 19 SB3 Manchester Av BALDWIN PARK 5 COMMERCE 405 EL MONTE EB4 Rosemead Bl 39th St Florence Av 605 60 NB4 HYDE PARK I-605 El Monte ExpressLanes Station Start MONTEBELLO CULVER CITY 90 10 ROSEMEAD WB1 EB3 710 EAST LOS ANGELES NB5 SB2 ALHAMBRA WB3 Santa Anita Av ExpressLanes Start Adams Bl ExpressLanes End SB1 Av Fremont Av EB1 Orthopaedic Hospital Jefferson Bl 39th St Union Station WB6 ExpressLanes End KOREATOWN 10 Del Mar Av 5 101 IRWINDALE 105 SANTA FE SPRINGS Van 5 LYNWOOD Ness Av (to Northbound I-110) ExpressLanes Central Av ExpressLanes End 105 GARDENA SB6 NB2 405 SR-91 Harbor Gateway Transit Center 182nd St ExpressLanes End 605 Redondo Beach Bl COMPTON 91 91 NB1 Harbor Gateway Transit Center CERRITOS ExpressLanes Start LAKEWOOD Toll Point Entrance and Exit TORRANCE CARSON 5 HAWAIIAN GARDENS Entrance Only Exit Only Northbound and Eastbound ExpressLanes FasTrak transponder is required for Metro ExpressLanes entry. 405 Westbound and Southbound ExpressLanes Not to Scale 8 The general purpose lanes are not charged a toll. 12-0914 ©2011 LACMTA 103 9 LONG BEACH ® FasTrak Mounting Instructions Clean mounting area inside of windshield with rubbing alcohol and let dry. Prior to starting a trip, the driver will indicate the number of occupants in the vehicle by moving the switch on the transponder to the appropriate setting (1, 2, 3+). The toll system will detect the switch position and determine whether the toll will be charged. The switchable FasTrak transponder will help enforce occupancy requirements aided by dedicated CHP o;cers who will provide visual verification. ® What are the carpool requirements for toll-free travel on the ExpressLanes? All vehicles traveling on the Metro ExpressLanes must have a FasTrak transponder. The 110 and 10 have di=erent occupancy requirements today, which will not change for the ExpressLanes. On the 110, vehicles with two or more occupants will travel toll-free at all hours. On the 10, vehicles with three or more occupants will be able to use Metro ExpressLanes toll-free at all hours. Vehicles with two occupants (on the 10 ExpressLanes only) will pay a toll during peak hours Monday through Friday (5am–9am; 4pm–7pm), but will have toll-free use during o=-peak hours and on weekends. Are there any monthly fees associated with having a FasTrak account? Yes. A $3 monthly account maintenance fee is assessed. The fee can be waived with a minimum of four one-way trips on the Metro ExpressLanes in a month. The one-way trips can be any combination of paying a toll, carpooling toll-free, or eligible transit trips. The fee is automatically waived for customers enrolled in the Equity Plan. I have an account with another toll agency. Can I use my FasTrak transponder on the Metro ExpressLanes? Yes, your existing FasTrak transponder will work on the Metro ExpressLanes. You will be charged the single occupancy rate. If you would like to use the ExpressLanes as a carpooler and not be charged, you will need to obtain a Metro FasTrak transponder. You are not required to maintain two separate accounts. The Metro transponder will work on all toll facilities in California. 14 I drive a CNG/Electric/Zero Emission vehicle. Do I have to pay a toll? Will I need FasTrak? Yes, all vehicles will need a FasTrak to use the ExpressLanes. These vehicles will be charged a toll similar to all other solo drivers until February 23, 2014, at which time, these vehicles will not be charged a toll. I drive a motorcycle. Will I need FasTrak?
