Agriculture South Platte Sentinel Two vy for queen title By Forrest Hershberger News Editor The competition for the title of Miss Rodeo Logan County continued Saturday with the Logan County Royalty Contest. Two contestants competed several contests including the application, personal interview, formal modeling, speech, casual modeling, and three impromptu questions. The contest then moved to the Exhibit Center for horsemanship events including horsemanship patterns and horsemanship interview, the Queen’s wave, flag run, Queen’s Choice event, personality and Silent Judge. Contestants also earned points on how well they gathered support for the silent auction. Contestants can earn up to 1,500 points in the contest. They must earn at least 1,200 points to be a titleholder. The coronation will be Fri., Aug. 9, during the Dick Stull Memorial PRCA Rodeo which starts at 7 p.m. in the grandstands. Logan County Fair Board Royalty Coordinator Brandee Gillham introduced the events of the day. She credited the sponsors for the success of the program, specifically noting the Logan County Commissioners and Logan County Fair Board. The new event for 2013 is the impromptu questions. One of the questions answered by candidate Regan Wheeler is “If you want people to know one quality of yourself, what is it?” Wheeler said that she is not always the shy one, and that she can be loud and bubbly. The other queen contestant, Bobbi Jo Lingreen, was asked to respond to an animal rights activist regarding the rodeo. She said she would tell the activist that animals are not harmed and that they are capable of the events performed in a rodeo. There is one contestant for the 2013 Miss Rodeo Logan County Sweetheart Contest, Sage Nab. Three contestants took part in the Little Miss contest for ages five through 10. Natali Boerner, Jenna East and Tobi-Beth Erickson introduced themselves, then took part in a “roping of a truck” skills task. FREE Pregnancy Testing and Counseling For The Unplanned Pregnancy.
