Could Daytona Be In Line
For Another Race?
Just recently Daytona Speedway was the site of some
rather unfamiliar race cars … IRL cars. Tests were held
to see if the track is suitable for testing IRL style cars.
The Speedway is very tight lipped about any possible
commitment to future racing possibilities, but racing
enthusiasts are speculating that in the near future we
could have an Indianapolis style open wheeled car race
here. How exciting is this? We will keep you informed.
Bike Week 2007
March 2 - March 11
We all know that our beach is one of the nicest in
the entire state, but it really makes us feel good when
someone else recognizes our greatest asset. Florida
Monthly Magazine conducted a reader’s poll recently
and Daytona Beach was voted NUMBER ONE for
having the BEST BEACH. Incidentally this is not the
first time we have won this award. We also won in
1999, 2002 and in 2003.
Bigger than ever, this event attracts
several hundred thousand motorcycle
enthusiasts and non-bikers alike, from
all over the U.S. as well as other countries. Festivities include motorcycle
races, charity rides, street festivals and
expos. No matter what type of bike you
like or ride, you’ll find something for
everyone during Bike Week. It’s a great
party and everyone comes for the
excitement and the unusual spectacles
of this event! For more info and pictures, go to www.daytonachamber.com

Dedicated and skilled employees are the heart of any
business, and this is especially true at the Sun Viking Lodge.
In an industry that has a traditionally high turnover rate for
employees, we can be proud of the large number who have
been with us for more than 5 years and some for more
than 34 years. As a token of our gratitude, employees
and their guests were treated to a special appreciation
dinner in December. The Sun Viking Lodge recognizes
these valuable employees by offering them their choice of
gifts when they reach significant milestones in their careers.
This year, four of our employees are celebrating notable
anniversaries.
FRANK FOREHAND – 20 YEARS! General Manager – … For the past 20 years, Frank has done an outstanding job.
He is very efficient and very accommodating to our property and our guests. Most of our returning guests have come to
know and love Frank as much as we do. He is always willing to do what is needed and is definitely the backbone of the
entire staff. Barbara and I would certainly be lost without him! Frank has selected a large color TV.
BOB HANSON – 5 YEARS! Assistant General Manager – … Bob has adapted well in learning our property and
our systems. His past restaurant experience has seasoned him nicely for achieving very high marks in guest satisfaction.
Bob’s calming personality works effectively when dealing with our guests and staff. The office staff loves him because he
loves to cook. Bob has chosen a computer component.
ERICA ATOL – 5 YEARS! Housekeeping Department – … Erica is a very pleasant and hard working housekeeper who
does an excellent job in helping maintain our rooms. She always grades very high on our inspections and our guests love
her warm and friendly smile. Erica has selected a queen bed.
YURIV MEDINSKYY – 5 YEARS! Maintenance Department – … Yuriv is quiet and hard working and one of our
“pillars” in the maintenance department. Yuriv is very dependable and prides himself in helping maintain our pools and
grounds, keeping them spotless for our guests. Yuriv has chosen a color TV.
Our congratulations and many thanks to these terrific members of the Sun Viking
