Named by the Dallas Observer as one of five acts to watch in 2015, Troy Cartwright is already making a name for himself as a
rising songsmith from the South. Troy was selected as the winner of the 25th annual B. W. Stevenson Songwriting Competition,
and is the recipient of the 2014 Rising Star Texas Music Award. Couple these accolades with a degree in music from the
prestigious Berklee in Boston and it’s safe to say the young early-twenty something Dallas Texan is well on his way.
On February 3rd, 2015 Troy will release his debut self-titled full length album Troy Cartwright via Sony RED Distribution.
Recorded with Grammy nominated producer Wes Sharon (John Fullbright, Turnpike Troubadours, Parker Milsap) at his studio
in Norman, Oklahoma, the album features nine honest and sometimes raw self-penned tracks.
Troy began crafting his own songs after realizing, "It's the one thing nobody ever told me to do." After surviving high school, he
spent time in Boston, Hershey, PA, and New York City before graduating from the Berklee College of Music. It was at Berklee,
under the tutelage of lyric writing professor Pat Pattison, whose former students include Gillian Welch and John Mayer, that Troy
surrendered to his muse and decided to pursue songwriting as a career. After a brief stint as a wedding singer in the Northeast, and a series of tours across the US and Europe, he returned back to his
native Texas to write and record his first EP, Bull Run. Troy enlisted a team of heavyweights from the local Dallas and Texas
country scene including Grammy winner Lloyd Maines on pedal steel. This collection of songs, including the nostalgic "Sixteen"
and familiar sounding "Coffee in the Morning and Whiskey at Night," was released in June of 2013. Since then, Troy has shared the stage with artists like Radney Foster, American Aquarium, Chris Knight, Slaid Cleaves, John
Fullbright, Jason Boland, Jason Eady, the Band of Heathens, The Damn Quails, Max Stalling, and Zane Williams. He has been
featured in the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Observer, numerous blogs and on stages across the Southwest. With his new
album, Troy is hoping to gain a foothold in the Texas music scene and beyond.

dreams and being with those you love. Ryan Englemen of the
Turnpike Troubadours plays pedal steel on he track. • Troy Cartwright was produced by Wes Sharon (John Fullbright,
TurnPike Troubadours), known for being a songwriter’s producer in
the context of being lyrically driven in his approach to production. .
• Troy’s influences are varied ranging from Jack Ingram, Robert Earl
Keen and Radney Foster to Lynrd Skynrd and Ryan Adams.
• Though his songwriting trends more toward the serious, Troy is a
pretty funny guy. Ask him about his “bear” humor.
• Troy writes EVERY single day, marking a calendar each day with an
“X.” He tries not to break the chain.
• Among Troy’s obsessions besides music are, chicken wings (grilling them or just eating), Siracha (he carry’s a travel size bottle
with him) and an iphone game called Trivia Crack.
• When he’s not writing, Troy is an avid runner, voracious reader and follows closely all of the Dallas Teams (Cowboys,
Mavericks, Rangers, Stars).
