The world was introduced to the Georgian
grandeur of Weymouth & Portland during the
2012 Olympic Games being the host venue
for the sailing events. Weymouth Bay and
Portland Harbour provide some of the best
sailing waters in Europe ideal for a whole
myriad of watersports including sailing,
windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding,
kitesurfing and kayaking. Whilst the Isle of
Portland renowned for its unique environment
and rugged landscape is truly an explorers
island with its rock climbing, abseiling, diving,
coasteering, walking and sea fishing.
Weymouth & Portland is quickly evolving into
the south west’s go to destination for outdoor
adventure & activity sports and is also gaining
a much deserved reputation for hosting major
sporting events. Alongside a whole host of
sailing events, this will also feature The RAF
Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic, Dorset
Sport & Wellbeing Festival (an Olympic
legacy project), Weymouth Speed Week and
culminating with the Ironman Weymouth event
