with a special focus on Germany and Spain.

for young people and their families.
The Portobello Film Festival offers an exciting range of films this
summer and it will be available to communities in the borough.

and understanding of the world, promote use of language and communication.

Film Academy aimed at hot-housing young filmmaking talent. They were given the daunting task of
making short films from scratch with just two days to
shoot and two days to edit using scripts written by
NFTS screenwriting students.

Portobello Film Festival has specialised in the frontiers
of non corporate art since 2000 when we first invited
Joe Rush over from Italy to display his robots and
models in a circus tent in a North Kensington park.
Succeeding years showcased Les Freres Ripoulin
(from Paris), Jamie Hewlett of Tank Girl and Gorillaz
fame, Eine and the maestro Blek Le Rat. Film Festival
cover artistes included Ralph Steadman, Pure Evil,
Andrew Logan, Dotmasters, Big Jesus Trashcan and
Mr Le Rat.
UK leads the world now in fine art popular culture with
integrity. Hard on the heels of the pioneering work of
Banksy street art is massively enjoyed by ordinary
people. It's still possible to pick up original pieces,
Solo One
stencils and prints for next to nothing of you look hard
enough...but beware eBay and fakes...while at the same
time urban art is fetching a fortune in auction houses.
Art is fun again and not the domain of a few snotty
nosed chin strokers.
For these reasons we are launching the annual
Portobello Urban Art Festival showcasing the best of
this new exciting movement that will surely be as
celebrated as Impressionism, Surrealism, and Pop Art,
and putting the work in the gallery environment it
deserves.
