PRESS RELEASE Bombay Records is excited to announce the release of its latest album ”The Slightest Touch” by Vancouver singer Tim Fuller. Produced by Sean Dimitrie, Nav Bhinder & DJ Ali, ”The Slightest Touch” showcases Fuller’s vocal abilities by visiting the many faces of house music with an infectious and universally appealing release. Having recently worked with Miguel Migs on his latest release as well as Groove Armada’s upcoming album project Tim is quickly establishing himself as one of house music’s most sought after vocalists. Supporting the release of the album will be a nationwide tour to start mid-august featuring Tim Fuller and Sean Dimitrie Live along with Bombay residents Nav Bhinder & DJ Ali on the decks. ”The Slightest Touch” will first see a Canadian CD release in June followed by a double vinyl release July 18th. Worldwide release for both formats will follow in early september. A remix album featuring artists such as Chicken Lips, Spirit Catcher and Fred Everything is also planned for release in the fall on vinyl. Also rolling out is Hebegebe & Vernell de Long’s ”I Go Now” a slamming summertime concoction featuring remixes by The Lawnchair Generals and Awaaz that’s sure to spice up any set. Having recently relocated from Montreal to Vancouver, Bombay has established its headquarters and studios at ”The Penthouse” and will be continuing to expand it’s house music catalogue while taking on new musical directions. On the horizon is a full-length album by Montreal hip-hop artist Daybi as well as projects from Bombay’s resident studio production team Awaaz (Sean Dimitrie & Nav Bhinder). Also in the works is the re-launching of Bombay’s website for late summer 2006. BMY-CD-112 BOMB-129 TIM FULLER While greatly inspired by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield and fellow Minnesota native Prince, once turned on to the work of Frankie Knuckles and Tony Humphries, Tim set his sights on house music to bed his writing and singing abilities. Making use of the influences he acquired throughout his career and bringing them into the studio, Fuller has teamed up with Vancouver producers DJ Ali and Sean Dimitrie to great effect. Their varied backgrounds and talents have resulted in a fresh new sound, giving house an equally raw, sophisticated and funky edge. Ali and Dimitrie’s ”disco dubbed techno” paired with Fuller’s soul drenched style is making motions on charts and dance floors alike, as witnessed on singles such as ”The Release” and ”Show me Right” on Manali Records ”So Hot” on Odori and a full-length album to be released on Bombay Records in 2006. This collaboration has also grown into to his latest venture on stage, a live performance with Dimitrie which has torn up select clubs with its impressive display of vocal improvisation and live production wizardry. Having also been recently remixed by Llorca, and with forthcoming releases with Miguel Migs set to grace his ever-growing discography, Fuller is excited about his foray into dance music and beyond. Born in Minnesota, Fuller has resided in California, Vancouver, the Turks and Caicos Islands and New York City. He started singing in church choirs as a child, and went on to study classical piano during his teenage years. Simultaneously, Tim began to play the drums and over a period of seven years he had also developed into a very skilled percussionist. Once he pursued a post-secondary degree in vocal jazz harmony at the Vancouver Community College in British Columbia, success as a musician came almost immediately. In the early stages of his career, Fuller had a record deal with his funk/R&B outfit Vote of Confidence, known to fans as VOC. Since then, Tim has fronted several successful bands, performing funk, soul and R&B, though he’s best known across the West Coast for steaming up the stage as lead vocalist for the live funk band ‘Soulstream’, which holds a longstanding residency at Vancouver hot spot Bar None. Meanwhile, Jazz aficionados, will recognize Fuller as front man of vocal quartet ‘The Melloyds”, which over period of seven years, recorded two albums and toured internationally for A&M Records. Fuller has even performed with the likes of Bobby McFerrin. While this introduction to one of Canada’s most in demand singer/songwriters comes seemingly late, Fuller’s unique vocal style, musical ability and stage presence break down walls between genres and infuse dance music with a new warmth and humanity. Vancouver’s Tim Fuller is on track to become one of house music’s next great performers. SEAN DIMITRIE To say that Sean Dimitrie is not your average DJ/Producer is an understatement. From his pioneering live electronic jazz band Shazzam, to his first production house, which he ran at Gore St. in Vancouver, his first labels, Cache Records & P.F.B. Recordings to his most recent partnership with Nav Bhinder at Bombay Records, Dimitrie is forever expanding his musical horizons. Dimitrie is best known for his original productions and slamming remixes for such labels as Bombay Records, Smash Hit, Leaf, Disorient, Transport, Village and BMG. Playing the regularly across North America, Asia and Europe, he has torn up dance floors from New York to Tokyo. His most memorable sets have taken him as far as Thailand where he performed at events such as Ko Phangan’s legendary Full Moon Parties. Always in search of new inspiration, Dimitrie has also recorded all over the world producing live recordings with a wide range of gifted artists from Puerto Rico to Los Angeles. Traveling gives you a good idea of what music is, because there is different trends in different parts of the world at any given moment. Lately I’m so much more influenced by producers than musicians. A certain producer on a project is reason enough to buy an album”. A producer himself since 1992 he counts amongst his collaborators Tim Fuller, DJ Ali, Thomas Osaze, Nav Bhinder, Vernell Delong, Rasoul, Gavin Bongo, Eddie Amador, SWAG & Christine Ngyuen. Dimitrie also has an impressive line up of remix credits which include Nancy Wilson’s ”If” I had my way” and Kerri Chandler’s ”Avareh”. Recent hits include his latest remix on San Francisco Label ‘Smash Hit’, of Jrod Indigo’s rendition of Prince’s ”Indigo Music”, the international release of ”PIMP” on Germany’s ‘Loco United’, along with ”Precious Things” a collaboration with UK’s Rob Pearson and Asad Rizvi. Currently Dimitrie is busy extending his abilities into the artistic direction of his fellow label mates, while producing full-length projects with up and coming hiphop artist Daybi, and singer/songwriter Tim Fuller. Outside of the studio, Dimitrie’s partnership with Fuller extends onto the stage, where a unique fusion of modern laptop technology and old school soul singing flair is tearing up dance floors. ”I think the direction of music is all going back to live – when Timmy and I perform it’s all improvised, I call it spontaneous composition.” Their latest hit singles ‘So Hot” out on Odori, and ‘The Release” on Manali Records are testament to this dynamic collaboration. Fans and future followers of Dimitrie can also look forward to his debut album, a downtempo gem fusing Sean’s love of jazz and electronica being released on Bombay Records in 2006. NAV BHINDER As the Montreal scene grew Nav set his sites on producing and DJ’ing his events in one place and in 1998 co-founded Stereo Night Club with NYC’s Angel Moraes. Stereo boasted one of the best sound systems and dance floors on the east coast and continues to be one of his greatest accomplishments to date. ”The opportunity to play to a crowd of this size, hailing the magnitude of sound Stereo was capable of and for five years, well that kind of opportunity doesn’t come around very often”. Around the same time Nav co-founded Bombay Records as a way to provide a bridge for the undiscovered talent as well as the established DJ’s and producers he had at his disposal. ”We’re working with a certain group of very talented Canadian artists, developing and promoting their careers so we can expose them to international audiences. Having this global outreach within our scene makes us a very unique Canadian label.” Born in the U.K, Nav’s love of rhythm was influenced by traditional Indian music, disco and new wave at an early age. Once turned on to the sounds of Chicago and Detroit house music, Nav began compulsively collecting EP’s and in the process his course was set for the future. Having moved to Toronto in the early 90’s and inspired by the underground movement that was taking over the U.K he started working with Promoter Alex London from Chemistry Productions, throwing some of Canada’s first and largest dance events. Nav then moved to Montreal and co-founded Harmony productions which quickly built itself a solid reputation for throwing some of the best parties around. It was here that he began to DJ professionally and spin alongside the likes of Josh Wink, Sasha, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and Basement Jaxx.. What’s next for Nav? Having established himself on Canada’s west coast he’s now focusing on his own musical productions working Sean Dimitrie under the name Awaaz, and running Bombay Records. DJ ALI Ali’s progression into producing was a natural combination of his B-boy beginnings and his unique skills behind the decks. Ali’s own brand of club-savvy tracks began to hit the scene in 1998 and today, he’s as renowned for his studio work as he is for his DJ sets. Recognized for his remixing skills as well as his original productions, both endeavors only fuel the demand for his truly unique ability to heat up the clubs. Early hits including “U Don’t Know” (Classic) , “The Release” and “Show Me Right” (Manali Records) as well as releases on Rescue, Village, Deepen and Visitor are testament to his unique production skills. “My style is in your face get ready to dance because there is a wicked energy to this music, it’s dirty, jacky and a whole lot of `uh’!” Now a permanent fixture on the Bombay roster along with Sean Dimitrie, Nav Bhinder & Tim Fuller there is much to look forward to from Ali. He now holds a residency at Vancouver’s Gorg-a-mesh Night club and is gradually converting heads to his amazing DJ sound all over the globe. Ali Meghji started break dancing as a natural extension to his love of music and beat culture. Having been collecting vinyl since he was 8 years old and influenced by funk, disco as well as early hip-hop and house music, it was just a matter of time before he got behind the decks. Ali’s evolution as a DJ began in 1993, just as the Vancouver scene was beginning to take shape. Ali quickly developed his signature style and a very loyal following of fans. Residencies at ‘Blueprint’, ‘Largo’ and the ‘Rehab’ parties of the mid 90’s enabled him to share the stage with Chez Damier, Derrick Carter, DJ Heather and Mark Farina to name a few. In fact, Ali references the Rehab events as being just as memorable as his career defining performance at the infamous ‘Summer Love’ in 1995.
