Begin your exploration of the kingdoms of the Pharaohs. Drive out of town to Dahshour to see the Bent
and Red Pyramids. Continue to Memphis on the edge of the Western Desert, the capital of the Ancient
Kingdom and one of the most important cities throughout the history of Egypt. At Sakkara, the vast
necropolis of Memphis, visit the colossal Step Pyramid of King Djoser, its temple complex and some of

INSERT DATE: CAIRO
This morning begins with a visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, housing the most extensive and
impressive collection of treasures from Egypt's Pharaonic era, including the fabulous treasures of the
young King Tut Ankh Amun. Drive to the edge of town to explore the three famous Great Pyramids of
Giza, built before 2000 B.C., and the Sphinx. Overnight Shepheard’s Hotel or similar. [B]

Set out on a scenic drive to Alexandria (about 3 hrs), passing through Nile Delta farmlands. Alexandria
has a distinctive atmosphere, with Mediterranean influence in its architecture, climate and cultural
heritage. Once the capital of Greco-Roman Egypt, it is now a major seaport and commercial center. Sites
include the Greco-Roman Museum, Catacombs, Pompey's Pillar, the new Alexandrian Library, and

Return to Cairo in the morning and tour the city's sites, including Cairo's oldest quarter, Coptic Cairo,
with the Coptic Museum, Hanging Church and 14th century Synagogue of Ben Ezra. Visit the 12th
Century Citadel of Salah El-Din on Mokattam Hill and the bazaars of Khan El-Khalili. Overnight

Fly to Aswan, where you spend one night at the Elephantine Island Resort located on a secluded oasis,
surrounded by lovely gardens on Elephantine Island. Free time on own, or take an optional side-trip to
Abu Simbel (to be arranged in advance at extra cost). Built more than 3000 years ago, the Great Temple
of Ramses II and the smaller Temple of Nefertari at Abu Simbel were dismantled in an historical feat of
engineering when the Aswan Dam was built, and moved to their current location to preserve them from

INSERT DATE: NILE CRUISE, ASWAN TO LUXOR
Mid-day transfer to the pier for a 3-night Nile Cruise. The exact itinerary will depend on which cruise
ship is reserved, and may include an extra day. The following is an overview of what is included on most
cruise itineraries. In Aswan visit the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisque, and Temple of Philae. Sail to Kom
Ombo and the temple shared by the two gods Sobek and Haroeris. Further north is the most wellpreserved of Egypt's temples at Edfu. Your final destination is the impressive region of Luxor. All

Disembark in Luxor and tour the Necropolis of Thebes and some of the impressive tombs at Valley of the
Kings and Valley of the Queens. Walk through the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor

Begin your exploration of Egypt's Western Desert lands with a drive in a 4x4 vehicle (300 km) to the
Kharga Oasis, picnic lunch enroute. Visit the Roman temples of Qasr El Zayan and Qasr El Ghaweita
before arriving into Kharga. Dinner and overnight is at Solymar Resort Pioneers Hotel, a deluxe desert
hotel in a unique location. Pioneers’ caters to travelers who share a love of nature and appreciation of

Morning visit to the El Kharga Museum, early Christian Necropolis of Bagawat and the Hibis Temple.
Continue west to Al Dakhla Oasis (200 km), picnic lunch enroute. The oasis is a collection of different
settlements, dominated on its northern horizon by a wall of rose-colored rocks. Fertile cultivated fields
growing rice, peanuts and fruits are scattered between sand dunes in this area of outstanding natural
beauty. Explore ancient rock inscriptions along the way. Overnight at the Solymar Inn Mut, a small

INSERT DATE: FARAFRA OASIS
Morning visit to El Qasr, the ancient capital of Al Dakhla. Travel to the Farafra Oasis (290 km), lunch
enroute. Sites include a pottery factory, the Roman Temple of Deir El Haggar and the village of
Qallamun. Dinner and overnight at the Badaweya Hotel, a traditional mud brick building with Arabic
design, roof-top restaurant, modern comforts and guest rooms encircling a central courtyard. Overnight

Stop at the local art museum in Farafra before heading out on an off-road drive through the White Desert

Explore the Baharia Oases, with its Antiquities Museum, Tombs of Qasr Salim, chapels of Muftillah and
palm groves of Bawiti Village. Return to the bustling city of Cairo (365km) through the open desert

Transfer to the domestic terminal of Cairo airport for a flight to Sharm El-Sheikh where you are met and

SHEPHEARD’S HOTEL, CAIRO
The Shepheard’s Hotel is located in the heart of the Garden City
district in downtown Cairo overlooking the River Nile. A wellknown classical hotel with a historical background that goes back
to 1841, Shepheard’s was the popular hotel amongst British
colonials and visiting dignitaries for more than a century. Hotel
facilities include several restaurants and bars, valet parking, a
gym, sauna and steam room, shopping arcade, hair salon, coffee
shop, round the clock room service and front desk, fully equipped
meeting and conference rooms etc. The 200 air conditioned
guestrooms facilities (some with balcony views) include satellite
television, direct-dial telephones, high-speed Internet access,
mini-bar and en suite bathrooms.

Located on Elephantine Island on the Nile in mid-down town
Aswan, the Elephant Island is a literally three minutes by private
motor launch from the Corniche road at the centre of Aswan. The
Moevenpick Hotel is a modern five-star hotel. Facilities include
multiple restaurants and bars including the Pergola pool-side bar
and restaurant (see errata), the Tower Bar based on the 12th floor
and offering a 360 degree view of Aswan. Other amenities include
a Jacuzzi, gym, a swimming pool, tennis courts, business facilities,
24 hour room service and complimentary ferry to and from Aswan
city. All 224 rooms, villas and duplex suites have air-conditioning, a mini-bar, satellite TV, telephones

TIYI CRUISE BOAT, NILE CRUISE BOAT
Named Ti-Yi after the great wife of the 18th dynasty Pharaoh
Amenhotep III (1390-1352 BCE), and mother of rebel pharaoh
Akhenaton (1352-1336 BCE) who invented monotheism, The TiYi is a luxury ship of 59 cabins each of 215 square feet, and 3
suites.
Cruise boat facilities include 3 dining facilities and bars, 24-hour
room service, same day laundry with express pressing service,
internet café and entertainment. Each cabin is fully equipped
with personal safe, soundproof windows, individually controlled
air-conditioning, telephone with voice mail system, full mini bar, interactive TV (satellite channels), hair
dryer, in suite bathroom with walk-in shower, music system with daily program.
STEIGENBERGER NILE PALACE, LUXOR
Located on the bank of the Nile, 10min walk from Luxor Temple,
the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel is a four star luxury modern
hotel. Facilities include six restaurants, a café, a bar, room service,
a bank with ATM, hairdresser, medical clinic, shops, laundry and
dry cleaning service, a business centre with high speed internet
access, heated outdoor swimming pool, and kids pool, health club,
massage, sauna, steam bath, fitness room tennis courts on the

PIONEER HOTEL, KHARGA
As the first luxury hotel in all the oases, the Pioneer Hotel set the
standards for all hotels in the region. Despite the salmon-pink
façade, the hotel offers a very comfortable stay in the desert and is a
welcome place for nature lovers. With a pool surrounded by a green
area and lounge chairs, the hotel is a wonderful place to end your
day after exploring the treasures of Al-Kharga Oasis. Facilities
include restaurants, a bar, a swimming pool, several shops, a small
library, business facilities, 24 hour room service, laundry and dry
cleaning service, volleyball, basketball , tennis courts, fitness room,
and billiard table. All rooms feature telephones, satellite TV, air
conditioning, mini fridge. Each room has a balcony and a full

DAKLHA OASIS
Sol Y Mar Mut Inn lies in Al Dakhla Oasis, about two hours
from Al Kharga Oasis and four hours from Al Baharia Oasis. Al
Dakhla Oasis is an area of outstanding natural beauty and consists
of a collection of several different settlements framed to the north
by a wall of rose coloured rocks. Fertile cultivated areas growing
rice, peanuts and fruits are dotted between sand dunes along the
roads from Farafra to Al Kharga. Mut is the capital of Al Dakhla
Oasis and it is here that the beautiful Sol Y Mar Mut Inn is
located. Sol Y Mar Mut Inn compliments its setting perfectly. The architecture, style and layout really do
give you a feeling of being at one with nature. Charmingly simple, but comfortable accommodation in the
form of individual chalets and lodges allows you to enjoy a true desert experience. The resort has its own
natural thermal hot spring so you can soak in the iron-rich waters known for their healing properties or
use the resort as a base to explore the dunes and beyond. Visit the Roman burial ground of Mozawaka,
the temple of Deir El Hagar or the Al Qasr village built in traditional Islamic style. In the evening, sit
under the stars at the open air barbecue restaurant.
PALMA VILLAGE HOTEL, BAHARIYA OASIS
The Palm Village is 3 stars hotel situated in Bahariya oasis. The
hotel built in a very interesting style. The rooms are situated in a
semicircle around a beautiful garden. There is a roof terrace.
Entrance hall, dining room and lobby are considered generous. It
is the only hotel classified from the Egyptian ministry of tourism.
The hotel rooms are equipped with private bathroom, AC. The
hotel has 50 rooms – restaurant and terrace

Booking your Wildland Adventure
HOW TO RESERVE A TRIP
You can book online using our Reserve a Trip form or by calling one of our destination-expert Program
Directors at 1-800-345-4453. Your space on a trip is confirmed once we receive your reservation form
and the initial trip deposit.
Deposit requirements are as follows*:
• $500 per person for all trips in Central America.
• $700 per person for all trips in South America, the Middle East, Asia, the Mediterranean and
North America.
• 20% of land cost for all trips in Africa. This deposit is generally non-refundable.
*Additional deposits may be required for some trips. It may be necessary to adjust prices up or down 30 days before departure to
allow for changes in group size, rooming status or currency fluctuations. Full payment of the remaining trip balance is due 90
days prior to departure. Prior to departure, all travelers are required to sign a Release of Liability
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
If you must cancel before departure, money will be returned less the cancellation fees charged by WA Inc.
plus any additional nonrefundable cancellation fees and payments already advanced to airlines, hotels
and local operators:

Upon receipt of your deposit and completed reservation form, we will send you a comprehensive Predeparture Dossier. This contains our exclusive Wildland Adventures Destination Handbooks, country
map, immunization information, visa and other permit forms, a trip insurance policy, checklist, reading
list, travel gear catalog, cross-cultural information and optional trip extensions. You will receive a final
trip packet including Final Reminders and local contact information in your destination 2-3 weeks prior
to departure.
