4. PECEL Boiled spinach, string beans, bean sprouts, kenikir mixed with peanut sauce.
5. THENGKLENG is a kind of curry with pached sheep bones, added with roasted sheep meat, roasted

6. RONDE Hot beverage is made of ginger and sugar added with peanuts and slight slice sugar palm fruit.
7. DAWET Fresh beverage made of sweet coconut milk and mixed with traditional jelly called cendol and

riverside of the famous Bengawan

TRADITIONAL EVENTS
Traditional events are usually held in special occasions. Some of them are:
- Larab Langse
It is the ritual of washing the net clothe of Prince Samudro’s grace.
People believe that by following this ritual, their wishes will be granted by God.
It is an annual traditional ceremony to celebrate the Javanese new year
(1 Suro in Javanese calendar) and becomes one of the interesting tourist attractions
in Sragen Regency. It is usually held in Mount Kemukus.
- Cembeng Fair
It is held once a year, when the sugar factory starts the sugar milling process. The
Bazaar and music performance are two activities that are always conducted during the fair.
- Kirab Budaya (Culture Procession)
It is an annual procession to celebrate Sragen Regency Anniversary, that is every May27.
- LarungAgung Gethek J oko Tingkir
The Syawalan Festival begins one day after the Moslem Holy Day (Idul Fitri).
It is held inJurug Park, in the riverside of Bengawan Solo to celebrate the end of fasting
month and the beginning of “Syawal” Islamic month. The climax of the special event is
“Larung Gethek Joko Tingkir” from Jurug in Surakarta to Butuh Village in Sragen.
It is the procession of sailing of Jaka Tingkir’s raft.
- National Horse Racing Championship
It is held twice in a year, in June and December in the horse racing venue
“Nyi Ageng Serang” which is close to Kedung Ombo Dam.
This event always attracts many visitors from both Sragen and its adjacent regions.
