Mother Martha Louise Redmond was born Thanksgiving Day, November 24 th, 1943 to the union of
Elder Joe Edward Brame Sr. and Mother Augusta Hawkins-Brame. Both parents and one brother,
Bishop John David Brame, preceded her in death.
Mother Redmond was educated in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Soldan High School.
She furthered her education which provided her the opportunity to work for the St. Louis City
Hospital for 18 years as well as the American Red Cross for 23 years.
Bishop Charles P. Jones
Verse
Hear the bless-ed Sav-ior call-ing the op-pressed,
Mother Redmond received Christ at an early age at Christ Community Temple Church of God in
Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Robert A. Bishop. There, she met and fell in love with
Deacon William Harrison Redmond and they married October 5, 1963. To this union four children
were born. She served faithfully throughout the years in many capacities including pianist for the
Sunshine Band. She was applauded for her musicianship and ability to read and perform written
pieces of music without preparation or prior acquaintance.
Are you dis-ap-point-ed, wan-d’ring here and there,
Mother and Deacon Redmond followed the leading of the Lord to Mt. Calvary Church of God in
Christ under the pastorate of Bishop William Scott. Though Deacon Redmond preceded her in
death, Mother Redmond served in several capacities, her most loved as an Adult Sunday School
Teacher.
Drag-ging chains of doubt and load-ed down with care?
Mother Redmond, by the leading of the Lord, followed her son-in-law, Pastor Nathan F. Johnson,
to Abundant Life Ministries Church of God in Christ furthering her work in the vineyard. A virtuous woman seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands, so she devotedly served
this ministry in many capacities: Trustee, Mother’s Board, Sunday School Superintendant and
teacher, Nursing Unit, Hospitality and many others.
Come, no lon-ger tar-ry, I your load will bear,
Mother Redmond, affectionately known to many as “Nan,” was tenacious, ambitious and strong.
She served dinner each Sunday to the young men of Abundant Life and their families and was a
teacher to many (Titus 2:4) never timid concerning her thoughts, feelings and opinions. Though
she strongly came across at times, those that knew her well knew her chastening was always an act
of love despite how it felt at the time.
Bring Me ev-‘vry bur-den, bring Me ev-‘ry care.”
Mother Redmond leaves to rejoice in her home going four children: Stacy Harrison Redmond,
Crystal Redmond-Johnson (Dwight), Courtney A. Redmond, Sr. and Kinya Redmond-Johnson
(Nathan); Eleven grand-children: Shelly Redmond, Randall (RJ) Richardson, Marissa Redmond,
Kelly Richardson, Cassia, Evelyn, Rosalyn, William H. II, Courtney A., Jr. Kathryn and Marilyn
Redmond. Four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mother Ella Mae Farmer (Theodore) and Vivian
Tina Williams, two brothers, Joe E. Brame Jr. and Alfred A. Brame; 1 sister-in-law Daisy Redmond;
3 brothers-in-law Climent Redmond (Fran), Hal Redmond (Georgia) and Clemon Redmond Jr. (Joe
Ann), best friends Lynell Johnson and Samaria Lennon, her loving church family at Abundant Life,
in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers at the American Red
Cross.
Stum-bling on the moun-tains dark with sin and shame,
Have you by temp-ta-tion of –ten con-quered been,
“O ye heav-y-la-den, come to Me and rest;
Stumb-ling t’ward the pit of hell’s con-sum-ing flame,
Has a sense of weak-ness brought dis-tress with-in?
Do un-ho-ly feel-ings strug-gle in your breast?
By the pow’rs of sin de-lud-ed and op-pressed,
Christ will sanc-ti-fy you, if you’ll claim His best,
Bring your case to Je-sus, He will give you rest.
Hear the ten-der Shep-herd, “Come to Me and rest.”
In the Ho-ly Spir-it, He will give you rest.
Chorus & Refrain
Come (Come un-to Me) un-to Me (Come un-to Me) I (I will give you rest) will give you

am meek and low-ly) am meek and low – ly (I am meek and low-ly) Come (Come and

Mom I Love You So much. THANK YOU and see you in Heaven. I Love You. Rest in Peace
Your First Born,
Stacy Harrison Redmond
To my mommy, I love you so very much. Thank you for the things you taught me like the meaning of being a “real” lady. You also taught me to hold my head up and told me that I can make it
through ANYTHING! You know I always said you gave me life…twice. Even when I wanted to
quit, you made sure I continued to fight. You were there for us to celebrate our victory! You taught
us to be strong and never to be caught unprepared. You lived everything that you taught us. You
loved your children and adored your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Your legacy will
continue to live on for generations. Therefore you will never die. We appreciate you and will always love you. P.S. Please say i to our daddy for us!

Hymn
Mom, all I can say is “Thank You.” You were a wonderful mother! Even though I did not understand everything you were doing at the time, I know that you always had our best interest at heart.
It was only after I grew up and matured could I really appreciate you for who you were and what
you were trying to do. I love you so there are no regrets in your moving on. I am going to miss our
multiple daily phone calls and how we never let the call go without expressing our love for each
other. I will miss you. I am appreciative of the life you lived. You were an important and integral
part of all our lives and though we are hurting now, I am glad that you have found your sweet and
well deserved reward of rest and peace.
Mommy, I am so proud of you. You fought a good fight! You finished your course! You kept the
faith! You are the best mommy a girl could have. See you on the other side.
