Job Training: PATH
Pennsylvania’s Advanced Training & Hiring
The PATH programs are funded through an award by the PA Department of Labor, enabling
LCCC to expand and improve their ability to deliver education and career training programs
that can prepare participants for employment in high-wage, high-skill occupations. Lehigh
Carbon Community College is part of the PATH consortium along with Luzerne and
Northampton Community Colleges and strive to build programs to offer career training and
educational advancement for our region.
Advanced Manufacturing Training Programs
The manufacturing programs offer training in the areas of
industrial mechanical, electrical, programmable logic controllers
and mechatronic technologies. The industrial manufacturing
programs are offered through a hybrid delivery system of online
learning and hands-on training in a flexible, open-enrollment
schedule. Programs are designed to build the skills necessary
for employment in this high-demand field. Certificates are
stackable and can bridge to related LCCC associate degree
programs. Students are prepared to take nationally recognized
manufacturing tests upon program completion. Certificates are available for: production
technician, industrial mechanical technician levels 1 & 2, industrial electrical technician
1 & 2, mechatronic technologies level 1 & 2, programmable logic controllers and robotics.
The PATH programs offer the services of a career coach and job developer dedicated to

New! Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
A partnership developed through the PATH program at LCCC and our
partner technical schools, CNS Precision Machine Operations Technology
will be offered at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) and Carbon Career
& Technical Institute (CCTI) at a reduced rate with the added services of the
PATH Job Developer and Career Coach. Students completing each program will

New! Introduction to Healthcare
This is a 16-hour program to help the student build an understanding of careers in the
medical field. Through this course, students can comprehend the various programs offered at
the college to develop their personal career pathways.
Healthcare Administrative Assistant
The Healthcare Administrative Assistant Certificate prepares the student to work in
non-patient contact healthcare positions. Students will train in the fundamental computer
programs for office and data-entry use, medical terminology, medical office procedures as
well as professional communications. Students will receive CPR and first aid training during
the program. A practicum completes the training experience. The HAA certificate can bridge
to designated associate and diploma programs. The PATH programs offer the services of a
career coach and job developer dedicated to supporting student success and employment

Job Training: Healthcare
EKG Technician
Learn to work as a technician in a doctor’s office, hospital or healthcare facility, and perform
a routine electrocardiogram (EKG). Learn necessary aspects of anatomy of the heart and
physiology, medical disease processes, EKG work-related terminology, medical ethics and
legal aspects of patient contact. Students will be exposed to hands-on electrocardiography, and
lectured on echocardiography, holter monitoring and stress testing. All students will take CPR

Nurse Aide Diploma
This program prepares you to be eligible to take the PA Certification exam and be placed
on the Pennsylvania State Nurse Aide registry. Develop your understanding of the legal

Personal Trainer Certification
ABCNEWS.com states as the 4th hottest job in the U.S. at a national average of $34 an hour.
This 60-hour course is taught over a five-week period (15 hours lecture/15 hours practical
training), with the national exam on the 6th week. CPR/AED is needed to receive the
certificate. World Instructor Training School (WITS) is the only major certifying body in the
country providing comprehensive practical training and internship components. Textbook is

Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), the American Occupational Therapy

Pharmacy Technician Review & Calculations
This class is designed for individuals with prior experience or training as a Pharmacy
Technician who want to increase their technical knowledge with a goal of taking the

New! Youth Mental Health First Aid
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour certification training program designed to
give people skills to help a young person who is developing a mental health problem or
experiencing a mental health crisis. This course is ideal for non-mental health professionals,
including family members, healthcare professionals, first responders, law enforcement
officials, school and college staff, clergy and volunteers, as it introduces common mental
health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step
action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics
covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may
occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), and eating disorders. The course
is coordinated by the National Council for Behavioral Health and is listed in SAMHSA’s
National Registry of Evidenced-Based Programs and Practices.

Personal Care Assistant
This class is provided in partnership with Lehigh Career & Technical
Institute and is held at LCCC Allentown. The program prepares students
for entry-level employment in the healthcare field. Students learn basic patient care skills to
be employed in the home of a disabled, convalescent or elderly person, providing routine
care such as monitoring vital signs, assisting with medical equipment and medications,
maintaining patient care records and personal grooming. Students will learn safe work
practices and protocol and have the opportunity to earn First Aid and CPR certification.
All lab equipment and supplies will be provided. It is recommended that students have a

Driver Training – CDL Class A (172 hours)
This program provides a participant with
the skills and knowledge necessary to
become a professional tractor-trailer driver.
Successful candidates will have passed
their CDL skills, road and knowledge tests

GED Preparation & Noncredit English as
a Second Language
FREE GED CLASSES AT LCCC ALLENTOWN
Classes and tutoring are leveled to meet student learning needs from basic skills through GED
level of instruction. Instruction is designed to help students improve reading and math skills for
the workplace, as well as to pass the GED 2014. Students in these programs will explore career
paths, job readiness skills, and on-the-job skills for high priority occupations in the Lehigh Valley.

order in which your application was received. Class sessions are offered during the day and

Adult Basic Education
Students receive support in basic reading, writing and math skills using typical workplace
contexts. Students will develop long-term work and education goals after spending time
completing career interest surveys and learning more about different types of jobs. These
courses also help students make the transition to the Pre-GED Preparation class.
Pre-GED Preparation
Students work on the skills necessary to successfully pass the GED test. This class is for
intermediate-level students who need math and reading assistance. This class also helps
prepare students for their goals beyond the GED by giving support in transitioning into
a career or into post-secondary education or job training.
GED classes are also offered in Jim Thorpe and Lehighton through the Carbon Career

The Distance Learning Project is also available through partnerships with the
PA Department of Education. Classes are free and accessible to individuals who have

LITERACY VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer as a tutor in the Career Pathways GED and ESL program. Help adult students build

Accelerated EMT Program – Summer 2016
The Accelerated EMT Class is an extremely fast-paced, dynamic and highly structured
program, run during July, designed to certify education to individuals likely to respond to
pre-hospital emergencies. Successful completion of National Incident Management System
online training (NIMS 100 and 700) is required before class start and AHA CPR instruction
and testing for practical portion of CPR will be completed as part of class. HazMat
Awareness requirements will be completed during class. EMT program is held at the George
E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute (EMI) of LVHN, 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown,
lower level, and clinical experiences are at LVHN sites. Textbook is required and can be
purchased at EMI about one month before class start. Contact EMI at 484-884-0011 to verify
hours for book pickup. Prerequisites for all participants are:
1. Certificates of completion for NIMS 100 and NIMS 700 online

Lethal Weapons Training (Act 235)
LCCC is a certified center as specified by the Pennsylvania Lethal Weapons Training Act
235. This training is designed for an individual, 18 years or older, who is employed for the
purpose of providing security, protective patrol, detective or criminal investigative services
for a fee and who carries a firearm, baton or other lethal weapon in the course of his/her
employment. Each participant must go through the application process as directed by the
Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). Forms are available at www.lethalweapons.state.pa.us
and at any PSP barracks. The process can take 6-8 weeks. Once a confirmation letter has
been received from PSP, the participant can apply for the class with LCCC. Participants
who successfully complete the course will be certified by the PSP and also receive an
LCCC certificate. Participants in all Lethal Weapons programs are asked to establish

This section is for any student who has previously failed the Basic or Recertification training,
written exam and/or firearms testing, still has a valid “Approval Letter” for training from the

Firearms/Force Options Orientation
This course is a beginner class for students with no background in firearms. Firearm safety,
practical fundamentals training using real firearms will be part of this class. Lecture will be

Firearms/Decision-Making Skills for the Responsible Gun Owner

Pepper Spray User Certification
This course teaches techniques of pepper spray use in safe/reliable manner. Class will be set

Course reviews case law and techniques since original training and recertifies the student
in pepper spray use and suspect care. Class will be set up on request of interested student.
Cost is $75.
Taser X26/X2 Certification (6 hrs.)
This class will cover the techniques for safe and effective deployment of the taser-less lethal
incapacitation device. Class will include fire drills and will certify students in the use of the
device. Taser, holster and cartridges are supplied. Class will be set up on request of interested
student. Cost is $195.
Recertification: Taser (4 hrs.)
Prerequisite: Proof of previous certification
Reviews case law, incident de-briefing and techniques since original training and recertifies

Basic Rifle Familiarization and Skills (8 hrs.)
This class is geared for those who have not had any formal instruction and want to become
more proficient with their general purpose AR-style rifle. Participants are responsible for
providing their own rifle/carbine, several magazines and 300 rounds of ammunition and
must have a current PA Carry Permit. Range used is the Emmaus Police Indoor Range.

Registration Information
Tuition - Noncredit tuition fees are the same for residents and nonresidents.
When to Register - Lehigh Carbon Community College urges you to register as early as possible and at least ten
days prior to the class start date. Minimum enrollment is required for classes to be held; classes with inadequate
enrollment are cancelled eight days prior to the start date. If you choose to register within several days of a course
start date, we recommend that you call Noncredit Registration at 610-799-1197 to verify course details, space
availability, location and any special instructions.
Three Ways to Register:
1. Online - Go to www.lccc.edu. Click on Community Education. Select the appropriate category, then go to online
enrollment. Click on search courses; Term Fall 2015. Add courses to list, sign in, make payment and check out.
2. In Person - Register in person in the office of Registration/Student Records located in the Student Services
Center on LCCC’s main campus or at LCCC Allentown, LCCC Jim Thorpe or LCCC Tamaqua. Please bring your
Social Security number, course selections, and payment or charge card. Please use only check or charge at
off-campus sites.
3. Purchase Order - Organizations enrolling staff for training and development purposes will be invoiced if a
purchase order number is provided. For registration assistance, please contact our Registration/Student Records:

Textbooks - When textbooks are required, they should be purchased before attending class. They can be
purchased at the bookstore on the second level of the Academic Resource Center on the main campus in
Schnecksville. You can also purchase books online. (Go to www.lccc.edu/bookstore.) When the cost of the
textbook is included in the course fee, books will be available immediately before or during the first class meeting:
Schnecksville campus on weekdays, bookstore, Academic Resource Center, 2nd floor; Schnecksville campus on
Saturdays, at class; LCCC Allentown, in the classroom; LCCC Jim Thorpe, reception desk; and LCCC Tamaqua,
reception desk.
Refund Policy - If you must withdraw from a class, you can receive a full refund, minus cost of textbook if included
in course fee, provided you have informed Noncredit Registration in writing before the beginning of the second
class. For classes that meet only once, refunds will be given only if requested prior to the start of the class.
All refunds are issued by college check.
Tax Deduction - You may receive a tax deduction for expenses of continuing professional education undertaken
to maintain and improve professional skills. Consult with your tax advisor for allowable deductions.
Cancellation Policy - Classes are subject to cancellation based on sufficient enrollment.
If your class is cancelled, we will notify you as soon as possible. You may transfer to another section of class or
receive a full refund. Cancellation of classes due to bad weather is announced on major local radio stations or on
the homepage of our website at www.lccc.edu. If the college is closed, makeup dates will be arranged through the
instructor.
Senior Citizen Policy - Citizens who are at least 60-years old and live in a sponsoring school district may be
eligible for a 50% tuition discount. Conditions for reduced tuition are as follows:
1. A senior citizen needs to show proof of age the first time he or she registers.
2. Course must have sufficient enrollment of paying students.
3. Enrollment for reduced tuition must not cause the class size to exceed enrollment limitations.
4. Lab fees for consumable items needs to be paid by all students to the instructor at the first class. Required
textbooks must to be purchased by all students.
5. This tuition policy does not apply to those noncredit courses in which the college incurs a cost per student or
where so noted. Senior citizen registration will take place on the day a course is scheduled to begin. A class
scheduled to begin in the morning may be registered for on the previous evening. In order to be guaranteed a
seat in class, a senior citizen must pay full tuition.
