general become infatuated w i t h the s k a t i n g star. T h e m o t h e r m a k e s it p l a i n that she h a s ambitions for her
d a u g h t e r a n d m a k e s every effort to encourage the g e n e r a l . B u t it soon becomes c l e a r t h a t the y o u n g l a d y h a s
other i d e a s ; s h e is apparently attracted to t h e y o u n g A l p i n e officer.

r i n g . C o m p l i c a t i o n s develop w h e n M a r c a r e n a , a sophisticated lady of the b o u l e v a r d s , appears in pursuit of the
matador.
