EMAIL QUICK REFERENCE CREATE ADDITIONAL CHARTER EMAIL ACCOUNTS With Charter High-Speed™, you get up to 10 email accounts! You are only a few steps away from creating your additional Charter email accounts. Before you begin, make sure you have your Charter Account Username and Password handy. Follow these steps for creating additional Charter email accounts: 1. Log onto http://update.charter.com. 2. Enter your Charter Account ID and Password into the Login box, click “Submit.” 3. Click on “Manage My Email Accounts.” 4. Click on “Add Email Account.” 5. Enter the requested information and click “Save.” a. Desired email address b. Email Account Password (to ensure secure mail access, each charter.net mailbox will have its own password) WEBMAIL QUICK REFERENCE USING CHARTER WEBMAIL Charter Webmail allows you to send and receive email messages using a Web browser. Using Webmail, you’ll have the convenience of being able to access your charter.net email from almost any Internet-enabled computer. THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL HELP GET YOU STARTED: 1. Open your Web browser and type http://mail.charter.net in the address bar. Hit “Enter.” This will take you directly to the Charter Webmail Internet page. NOTE: You can also access Webmail from links located in your Charter home page. 2. Once you've accessed the http://mail.charter.net Webpage, you’ll log in to your account using your Charter email username and password. CONFIGURING MULTIPLE EMAIL ACCOUNTS With Outlook Express, each member of your family can have their own email account. Use the Identities feature to create separate identities, inboxes and personal folders. Each user can password-protect their own account, helping to maintain privacy. There are two ways you can configure multiple accounts: using an automated solution or manually. AUTOMATED SOLUTION (recommended) 1. Log onto http://support.charter.com. 2. Click on the “Browse for a Solution” link. 3. Click on “Email,” then Outlook Express. 4. Select “Configure Email Accounts” in Outlook Express. 5. Follow the instructions. MANUAL SOLUTION 1. Launch Outlook Express; select the “Tools” menu, then “Accounts.” 2. Click the “Add” button, select “Mail” -- a wizard will guide you through the steps. 3. Type your name as you want it seen when sending mail, click “Next.” 4. Select “I already have an email address that I'd like to use” if prompted. 5. Type your Charter High-Speed™ Internet email address, click “Next.” 6. Select “POP3” from the drop-down box for your incoming mail server. 7. Type your incoming and outgoing mail server names, click “Next.” (incoming – pop.charter.net outgoing – smtp.charter.net) 8. Type your account name and password, click “Next.” 3. Logging in to your account will take you to the Charter Webmail user interface where you will be able to manage your emails. 4. Charter’s Webmail interface is an easy-to-use tool with an online help tool available should you need it. 5. Once you’ve finished reading, sending and otherwise managing your emails, be sure and log out of your account using Webmail’s “Logout” option. CREATING WEBPAGES You can create your Webpage with any HTML editor of your choice. Visit our Website at http://support.charter.com for detailed instructions. http://support.charter.com NOTE: If you choose not to enter your password here -- and leave the Remember password option checked -- Outlook Express still allows you to check your email, but requires you to enter your password each time you check for new mail or send messages.
