Building can be a fun process!

You’ve been thinking of
building a new home your whole
life! You’ve cut out pictures in
magazines, and you’ve been on
all the websites. Are you staying
up all night watching DIY and
HGTV? You officially have the
home building bug!
So, you have all of these great
ideas in a folder, you need to
decide if you’re going to build
a custom home on your own
patch of land, or a home that the
builder already has in a package,
ready to go. They are both
beautiful. If you decide to have
a complete custom home built,
you need to see your new best
friend, the architect! If you don’t
desire a custom fit and you want
something in a neighborhood
that you love, chances are you
can work with one of the great
plans a builder already has tried
and true. Of course you can still
put your own spin on the finishes
to make it look custom. Now that
you have your concept, and your
budget in mind and fundable, it’s
time to get out there and find the
builder that is most perfect for
you!
Today, builders now are your
one stop shop for everything
you’ll need. In days past, you
would meet in your kitchen and
talk for an hour, shake his hand
and away you would go out
into the world to find a lighting
shop, a carpet store and so
forth. That hand shake is still
there, and those great suppliers
are still there, but the builder in
most cases has already done
the work for you! The building
process is much faster now and
you need to be ready to make
decisions because EVERYTHING
will be decided ahead of time!
The siding, the windows, the
flooring, the lighting etc. will
need to be chosen up front. To
assist you, some builders have
their own showrooms with all of
these finishes so decisions are
quick and painless. Professional
builders have already gone to
the suppliers and chosen great
packages that will work with their
plans to make your life easier and
give your home a great look.

them involved as soon as you get
your plans! Want your house to
have cool factor? They also know
about the newest accessories
and furnishings you’ll need when
your home is completed. Now
is when those pictures you’ve cut
out over the past 15 years will
now come in handy. It really

you want for your home. A
professional designer is there
to help guide you through the
process by listening to your needs
and wants and turning them into
a plan that you will love for years
to come. Get all of the support
possible and listen carefully,
they will make the process and
your building experience more

have professionals on staff to help
guide you with your selections.
Let’s face it, builders are awesome
at constructing your home brick
by brick, but you get to call the
shots on which will look better, oil
rubbed bronze, or nickel faucets.
In addition to the builder’s staff,
you might also consider hiring a
professional interior designer to
assist you. A designer will help
So now that I’ve thrown a few
on the front end of your building
project as they’re trained to read things to think about at you, just
blue prints, and do lighting plans remember that the builder and
his team are there to help you.

with your builder is important.
