Community Bulletin #80 JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC)
Big fund raising effort as Palmerston businesses
experience Manigurr-ma Village nightlife
So
JKC and ESS Larrakia opened the doors to the Manigurr-ma
Village to local businesses this week resulting in thousands of
dollars being raised for charity.
Following a partnership being formed with JKC and ESS
Larrakia to promote Palmerston businesses to the JKC
workforce, the Palmerston Regional Business Association
(PRBA) was invited to hold its monthly meeting onsite giving
them an opportunity to experience our hospitality firsthand.
During the evening, 200 guests donated to a series of
auctions and raffles – raising $11,000 for the PRBA Trust
which helps those in need in the local community.
An additional $2,000 was contributed by PRBA member and
HB Group Director Nick Halkitis for his Movember campaign.
Nick has grown an impressive amount of facial hair to raise
awareness of men’s health issues.
PRBA President Wayne Zerbe said the Village's facilities,
which are provided to the Ichthys Project's temporary
construction FIFO workforce, were first class.
“It is an unbelievable experience with the catering second
to none,” Wayne said.
The PRBA was invited to dine with workers, learn more
about the facility in Howard Springs and hear of the
progress of the Ichthys Project by INPEX General Manager
Darwin Sean Kildare.
Mr Zerbe was appreciative of the rare opportunity to visit
Manigurr-ma Village.
“I would like to thank INPEX, ESS Larrakia and JKC Australia
LNG for making us welcome and taking service
professionalism to a new level in the Territory.”
Thanks everyone for making the night a success!

When you’re tasked with installing harbour guides to precision measurements you’ve got to have the right tools for the job.
Read about BAM Clough’s 101 tonne hammer on page 2
Darwin Harbour hammer time
From page one
In an effort to create safe access for large vessels to
the module offloading facility (MOF) at Blaydin Point,
BAM Clough is now constructing navigational aids to
highlight the shipping channel.
As part of this process, BAM Clough has enlisted the
muscle of the IB429 – a high-tech barge with a $4
million PLM 6400 crane with a 400 tonne capacity.
The IB429 is currently driving the piles – two metres
in diameter, 40 metres long and weighing 80 tonnes –
into the seabed around the MOF.
These piles will form the basis of the navigational aids
used to guide vessels through the shipping channel.
The IB429’s crane lifts the S-500 hammer, weighing
101 tonnes empty or 127 tonnes locked and loaded,
ready to hammer the piles into the seabed.
The IB429 is positioned at the strike zone using
anchors and winches to counteract tidal and wave
movements.
The crane operators are able to set the pile in the
orange gates and drive in the piles using the hammer
with close to millimetre perfect accuracy.
BAM Clough’s IB429 driving piles into the Darwin Harbour seabed. The piles
will form navigation aids which will guide vessels to the MOF.
