Happy 10-Year Anniversary!
O
ctober celebrates Books Gallery 10 year
anniversary! Cheryl and Jimmie Owens have
created a Sutherlin treasure with warmth and
friendship, not to mention about 60k new and used
books! They also provide online ordering service for
their customers and gift certificates are available.
Cheryl’s mom Irene Young is another helpful, smiling
face you’ll find here. She makes a fine espresso and
as an accomplished artist herself, encourages group
gatherings at the Gallery! Come in and enjoy relaxed
browsing, meeting local authors, artists , poets, knitters
and more.
You’ll find a jigsaw puzzle is always in the works, and
there is even a jigsaw puzzle exchange! Try your hand
while sipping delicious organic coffee or tea. Choose
from a variety of desserts daily and hot from the oven
bread from Light House Bakery on Fridays! Once you
come in, you won’t want to leave this little haven.

HONORING OUR
VOLUNTEERS!
The Sutherlin Visitors Center Volunteers are simply the
best! These delightful folks work different shifts on
different days of the week so, we decided to give them
an opportunity to meet each other and also meet our
Board Members.
Our Volunteers greet travelers and local residents
alike with smiles and enthusiasm. They cover shifts
for each other at the drop of a hat. They are proud of
their community and provide resources to both local
residents and out of town travelers.

They are truly the faces of Sutherlin and we are so
proud that they choose to volunteer their time with the
Visitors Center.
The festivities were held at the Rotary Event Center. We
were honored to have Mayor Todd McKnight attend
and offer heartfelt thanks from The City of Sutherlin!
The Sutherlin Area Chamber provided each volunteer
with a Certificate of Appreciation along with a goodie
bag containing gift certificates to three Local Chamber
Businesses, Tub Time Treasures, Cedar Ridge Galleries
and Ruff Day Lattes. Creative Catering made sure that
we were delighted with delicious hors d’oeuvres and
met our requests to include gluten free and vegan in the
menu beautifully! A big thank you to Theresa Solem, our
fabulous Board Treasurer for being our wine pour gal.
Since not all of our volunteers were able to attend, we
look forward to another Appreciation Party in the Spring!
