Spring is a time of renewal. Our members are the backbone of the Museum. We need all of you to carry out the plans we have for expanding the Museum exhibits and displays. Spring is also the time for the Grant review process. We applied for and took a trip to Tallahassee to defend our General Operating Support Award from the State Division of Cultural Affairs. We scored very high with our grant but at this time there is no money in the state budget for grants so we are unsure if we will receive any funds. The House and Senate are currently meeting to discuss this years budget. We feel preserving Destin’s history is vital and your membership allows us to continue to provide the community with valuable programs and exhibits. Please renew your membership today or make an extra donation to help cover the lost funds from our grant programs. -Jean Donation Challenge The first five people to donate $250 or more to the museum will receive a FREE HAUL from “The Boat Haul” in Fort Walton Beach. The value of the haul is $8 per foot. Act fast as the offer for a free haul only goes to the first five who donate $250 or more to the Museum. As he drew nearer he saw hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand and the person was picking up the starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf. He said to the person, "You must be crazy. There are hundreds, you can't possibly make a difference.” Thank you for the difference every member makes to the Museum!
