CELEBRATING FOUR DECADES
OF CONTEMPORARY ART
Welcome to the Missoula Art Museum’s Ruby Jubilee, kicking
off the celebration of MAM’s 40th anniversary. In fact, this
annual auction was launched 43 years ago to raise the cash to
open the new art museum, which occurred three years later in
the winter of 1975.
The auction remains the lifeblood of support for MAM’s
educational programs and art exhibitions to this day and
provides steady support to the artists whose works are sold at
the auction. It is mind-boggling to ponder how the auction
has translated into dollars for both the museum and the artist
community over the years, but we wager that we are talking
about multiple millions of dollars. Just as important is the
tradition of the dressed-up, wild and crazy affair that brings
together artists, patrons, speculators, and spectators for a fun
loving celebration of art.
This year we bring you a new feature: the Wine Wall. Gamble!
Take your chances at garnering some spectacular bottles for
the modest ticket price.
Arrive ready to help us Celebrate Four Decades of
Contemporary Art at MAM—your contemporary art
museum.
Thank you revelers!

BIDDING
INSTRUCTIONS
Live Auction Bidding
When bidding, please hold up your bid number toward the auctioneer. A bid
acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. If you
are the winning bidder, listen carefully as the auctioneer restates your bidder
number and winning bid amount. The sale amount is documented and the sale
is final. Missoula Art Museum reserves the right to withdraw any item at any
time without notice before the actual sale. MAM shall act as final authority in
determining the winning bid.
Silent Auction Bidding
Bidding on Silent Auction works will begin in the exhibition at MAM during the
Ticketholder’s Reception on January 29. The highest bid will be carried over to the
February 7 gala event. When bidding, please legibly record your bid number. All
silent auction items are highlighted in three sections that will close at the times listed
in this catalog. This process will be guided by the Auctioneer. Winning bidders do not
need to be present at the Auction. MAM shall act as final authority in determining
the winning bid.
The Guaranteed Purchase option is located at the bottom of each Silent Auction
Bid sheet. Upon assigning your bid number to the Guaranteed Purchase option,
you immediately become the winning bidder of said package, at which point no
additional bidders may outbid you, and therein you enter into an agreement with the
Missoula Art Museum to purchase said piece for the price point indicated within the
Guaranteed Purchase option.
MAM reserves the right to withdraw any item at any time without notice before the
actual sale.
All auction items (silent and live) can be picked up at the Art Pick-Up Area outside of
the ballroom shortly after the sale is final. Remaining auction items will be returned
to MAM, and arrangements for pick up can be made February 9-13.
Absentee (Proxy) Bidding
Bidders not attending the auction may submit proxy bids on all live and silent
auction items at MAM, by phone or email. A credit card number is needed for
processing. Bids will be made on your behalf up to but not exceeding your stated
maximum bid amount. Proxy bidding is anonymous. The deadline for submitting a
proxy bid is January 30, 12 PM.
Payment
All items must be paid for by the end of the evening. MAM accepts cash, checks,
Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. A 90-day same-as-cash payment plan is available
to MAM members. Sign up for a membership before the live event, or add a
membership to your evening’s total purchase. Credit card payments will be charged
a 4% service charge.
Art Pick-Up
When you have paid for your winning items, you will be issued a receipt. Please
present this receipt at the Pick-Up Table to claim your artwork. If you are unable to
take your new artwork home safely that evening, you may arrange for pick-up at
MAM at a later date. All artworks must be claimed by May 29, 2015.
Terms of Sale
All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds. MAM does not make any
expressed or implied warranties or guarantees on auction items regarding quality
or value of items or services. MAM has attempted to describe and catalog all items
correctly, but all items are offered and sold “as is” and “with all faults.” MAM neither
warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of
descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items. No
statement made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be
deemed such a warranty for tax purposes or market value. Items have not been
appraised unless otherwise noted. By the buyer’s purchase, the buyer waives any
claim for liability against Missoula Art Museum, its elected and appointed officials,
members and employees, sponsors, volunteers connected with the auction, and/
or the donor of the item. Neither Missoula Art Museum nor the donor is responsible
for any personal injuries or damage that may result from the use of the property or
services.
Acknowledgements
Thank you to the many businesses that have donated funds, services, and products
to make the auction exhibition, live events, and special programs memorable. Please
see the ads throughout this catalog and support the businesses that support MAM.
Thank you to all of the auction bidders and attendees for directly supporting MAM’s
programs. Thank you to the dozens of volunteers who help operate the museum and
have contributed additional time, energy, and creativity to help make this important
event a success.

Grizzly Liquor Wine Wall
Auction attendees have the opportunity to go home with a new and exciting
bottle of wine. Sponsored by Grizzly Liquor, all wines available at the wine wall
are valued at at least $25. MAM staff, sponsors, board members and volunteers
worked on providing an enticing array of varietals and vintners, making this
a delectable assortment. Thank you to the generous individual donors and to
Grizzly Liquor for providing this selection.
How it works: Each participant has a chance to draw a number that
correlates to a specific bottle of wine. Once that bottle is won, it is removed until
all bottles are sold. Each purchased bottle will be marked with the winner’s bid
number, and is available to pick up at the end of the evening. Bottles cannot be
open during the event.
33. Art of Food, Wine and Design
As if the auction committee didn’t do enough already! This incredible group has
designed a one-of-a-kind evening for eight in the home of committee member
Jen Leutzinger and her husband Glenn Kreisel, owners of the Brink Gallery. The
evening will start with cocktails, jazz with Beth Lo and David Horgan, and a tour
of this truly unique home. The Missoula house was designed by Seattle architect
Chris Pardo and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Mountain
Living for its sleek, modern lines and unique, contemporary style. Chef Andrew
Dolan, formerly of North Fork Catering and longtime committee volunteer, will
design a multi-course, locally sourced, and seasonally appropriate meal with the
winners of this special item. Expertly paired wines will accompany each course,
courtesy of George’s Distributing. This will be a group effort, with the rest of the
committee on hand to help prepare, serve, and work to make this night truly one
to remember.

In celebration of Four Decades of Contemporary Art and inspiring
ideas, we are dedicating our Moment of Giving section to securing the financial
stability of MAM for decades to come. The Moment of Giving is your chance
to show support to your contemporary art museum with a gift at the $4,000,
$400, or $40 level. These gifts are 100% tax-deductible, and more importantly
will help ensure free expression and free admission for all at MAM. Join us in this
celebration of generosity!
Generosity Sweep
At registration, all auction attendees will receive two bid cards: one white and
one red. Please feel free to use both throughout the night, but keep the red card
on hand for this special portion of our program during the live auction. If you
wish to support MAM with a $40 gift at this time, simply hand your red bid cards
to the volunteers who will be collecting them throughout the room. We are
hoping for 100% giving. If everyone in attendance gives in celebration of MAM’s
40th year, imagine what an impact that will make!
