Ballet Jörgen Canada’s repertoire is exclusively made up of original Canadian works. Over the past two decades the organization has evolved into “Canada’s Local Ballet Company.” Today Ballet Jörgen Canada shares the art form with more Canadian communities than any other dance company and has established hubs in Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto with plans for Kitchener-Waterloo and other communities across Canada. Ballet Jörgen Canada reaches over 40,000 people each year – one third of whom are under the age of 18. This coming of age story developed by Montreal born writer Emil Sher is told through the vibrant choreography of the award-winning Matjash Mrowzewski. Its set design, by Lori Endes, is dynamically brought to life with lights, projections and rolling sets all of which are integrated with Eric Cadesky & Nick Dyer’s vibrant score. Captivating for young audiences, this show will make them laugh, learn and reflect - all the while exposing them to the wonderful world of dance and storytelling with movement. Photos by Karolina Kura A World to Shake is a new and Canadian story! Esme is turning 13 tomorrow. She wonders what’s next and reflects on her past, all the while peering into her special snow globe, a treasured gift from her mother. She shakes up the world inside and is entranced by the enchanted village that comes to life. Birds, a beautiful Tree, Beasts and a Storm dance into this new world shaking it up with adventures, new friends and challenges to overcome. What will become of Esme’s worlds, real and imagined?
