Standard water systems operate with a 20 PSI
differential between cut-in and cut-out, the water
in the tank is flushed out and replenished every
pump cycle, thus greatly reducing the risk of
stagnant water in the tank.

Newer constant pressure water systems bring
the pump up to speed very quickly by operating on
much lower differential pressures, as little as 2-5
PSI. This means stored water is never fully
exchanged, only diluted with new system water.
This creates the possibility of stagnant water remaining in the pressure tank for extended periods.
