When your child returns to school, a note must be given to their teacher detailing the date and the reason for the absence. If your child has any long term absences from school, (eg. holidays, extended illness etc) a note is required to be given to their teacher informing them of the absence prior to them commencing the absence. LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY LEAVERS Any child arriving to school after 8.30am is required to attend the office, with a parent/guardian, to obtain a late pass. If your child is leaving school early, the parent/guardian is required to send a note with their child on the morning informing the classroom teacher of the time they will be collected and who will be collecting them. The parent/guardian is required to sign the child out at the office, where arrangements will be made for the child to come up to office. 29th April 2015 Page 1 PRINCIPAL WRITES CROSS COUNTRY at BELLBRIDGE The students in Grades 3 – 6 participated in a school based Cross Country Run last week where they represented their House Teams. Students ran either a 2 kilometre or 3 kilometre course that started on the school oval, progressed along the pathways that lead to Skeleton Creek and re-entered the school for the finish line. Everyone put in a ‘personal best’ effort, with Middleton House (red) being the overall winners. A select number of students will represent Bellbridge when they compete against local schools on Tuesday, May 5th. ANZAC Commemoration Last Friday, our Grade 6 student leaders did an outstanding job of hosting the annual ANZAC school assembly. They researched relevant information, prepared a digital presentation and led an assembly that was engaging and respectful. A feature of the assembly was the School Captains placing a handmade wreath at the school’s flag pole. The wreath was created by the students in our Grade 6 classes. It consisted of 100 flowers in which personal messages had been handwritten by the students. TRANSITION SURVEY – Parent Feedback We value Parent Input at Bellbridge. Last term families were invited to complete our annual Transition Survey to provide feedback about our processes implemented to support students’ transitions from kindergarten and throughout Prep – Grade 6. It was pleasing that we had 353 responses to this survey. Statement AGREE DISAGR No EE answer My child enjoyed the school transition program in Term 4 last 325 6 22 year. My child has had a good start to the school year. 349 4 0 My child is generally happy at school. 349 4 0 My child was well supported by the teacher when they started this 348 5 0 year. I feel I have had good communication between home and school. 340 11 2 I found the parent-teacher meeting in Term 1 was worthwhile. 322 20 11 We are encouraged by the positive responses about our strategies and procedures but would also like to feel that we receive constructive feedback from any parents who feel their child has had a less than ideal transition experience at Bellbridge. You may wish to provide this feedback in a letter or in a meeting with a member of the leadership team – Debbie Clancy, Lisa Conibeer, Tania Hunt, Alysha Jarvis. We look forward to your input as it strengthens our partnership in the delivery of our programs and procedures. NEWS Congratulations to all the Grade 3 to 6 students who participated in the Bellbridge Cross Country last Wednesday, it was a great success. From the trials, 30 students have been selected to represent the school at the Truganina District Cross Country at Presidents Park in Wyndham Vale on Tuesday May 5. The program will begin at 10.30am and conclude at approximately 1.30pm. Well done to the Grade 6 students, and Grade 5C who helped fill positions, in Summer Interschool Sport. Unfortunately none of the teams will advance to the Division stage, although the way all students conducted themselves was outstanding. Winter sports of AFL, soccer, netball, volleyball and softball will begin their trials this Friday. 5A will be providing additional players this term.
